Very good sushi restaurant! The blended flavors of every roll are great, however there's too many sauce toppings masking the flavor of the fish. But the presentation is always stellar! Large selection of appetizers, rolls, hand rolls, and cooked entrees. I can highly recommend the Avocado Bombs as an appetizer! The wait for service is awful after being seated though, leaves you wondering if there even is a server on staff because I didn't see anyone for at least 15-20 minutes.
My husband and I came here for a lunch date. It was pretty empty so we thought we could have a casual and not rushed lunch. We were seated right away then waited for fifteen minutes till we could get our order taken. The waiter was not social and the only thing he said is" what are you having". We waited another 20 minutes for our food which was fine but no one checked on the how our food was, offered refills for our very empty drinks or even brought us a check. Their were three servers huddled at the front on the phones the whole time. My husband went to the front to pay and they were annoyed that he had to interrupt them to ask for the check. The food was just okay. Definitely not worth the price considering how bad the service was.
Has quickly become one of my go to’s for excellent Japanese cuisine. Excellent service and fresh tasty Sashimi, Nigiri, and Maki rolls. Oh and their Chicken Teriyaki is very legit.
Great meal! Side of fried rice. Enjoyed the Scorpion roll. Yummy ?
Placed a to-go order and was told it would take 30-40 minutes. 1 hour and 30 minutes later, I find out they lost my order and didn’t realize it until I called in. 1 hour and 45 minutes in the parking lot. And then they only offer 10% off… I never complain, but come on guys. This is crazy. I love Shiki, but please be better and hold yourselves responsible when you dropped the ball.
Ever see a turtle with a broken leg race against a turtle without legs? This is the kind of entertainment and average dining time you can expect at Shiki Sushi. Once hailed as the gold standard of sushi in the TC, (er, wait…-that was Sushi Ya), it’s sad to see it’s fall from glory. They say if you watch closely, you can actually see the chefs move a quarter of an inch every 15 minutes or so. For a restaurant that deals mainly in raw fish, it seems a bit ridiculous to make your customers wait far longer than places that actually cook all of their food. If the restaurant is close to half full or more, expect your dining experience from the time you’re seated, to take 3+ hours, along with any time you had to wait in the lobby, even with a party size of two or less; I wish I was exaggerating. Couple this with a wait staff that comes to your table once after you’ve been seated for 30 minutes, then never again, and you have yourself one nightmare of an evening. Their food remains excellent, but to look around on a mildly busy night and see not a single member of the staff moving with urgency, all while people pile up at the entrance, despite there being open tables, all while the waitress makes the same excuse to you as she did the last five tables, that, “We’re just So0ooOOo busy” (their restaurant doesn’t even have enough tables to be what anyone with proper serving experience would consider “busy”), well that kills your appetite a little. You can’t charge higher than fine dining prices while not providing the service of a fine dining restaurant. Well, YOU can, but your business will eventually fail.I’ve let the poor service and extended wait times go for the past 6 or 7 trips, because of my love for this business, but I can do so no longer.I’ve supported loyally for around 5 years, ordering online and bringing both family and friends into the restaurant, as often as 3 times a month on average. Additionally, I’ve tipped both foh staff and the kitchen rather extravagantly, each time I was blessed to do so. I did this not only because we love their food, but because I believed in this business, but no longer.I will not be eating here again.I highly recommend you avoid this place, as the experience is nowhere near worth the outrageous prices they charge, or the bad service.
If you have never gotten it get the toro.. so very worth a try. Not saying I would get it every time but absolutely worth trying. Staff is great and attentive. Great for group or soli dining.
The fish was good and well. The service was ok and friendly. I particularly enjoyed the appetizers, one was fresh and crunchy while the other was hot and savory. The rolls though. I may have had a change in preference but it was clear that their sushi rolls are sauced heavily. Too heavily in my opinion, you have trouble tasting the fish! I regret not taking photos of the rolls...they did look pleasing.
Shiki Sushi & Grill was just okay. Party of six, half Sushi eaters who were all happy. Half Hibachi eaters who were less than happy. Steak was seriously overcooked, both of us ordered medium rare both recieved medium well. Even the chicken (one order just chicken and the other two steak and chicken) was overcooked, skimpy serving of vegetables and lackluster fried rice. All in all a huge disappointment, especially for the prices charged! If you are just looking for Sushi give Shiki Sushi and Grill a go. If you are looking for Hibachi spend your dollars elsewhere.
Delicious food and presentation with lots of options and variety! The staff was polite and attentive, and I felt like the price was very good for the quality and quantity of each roll. I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere, some of the other sushi places in town feel like they're rushing you out the door before you even sit down. Try the takeyaki if you want a fun appetizer, they're super tasty!
