Just had a lovely private dining experience in a beautiful tent with very attentive server and chef. The food was creative and delightfully yummy and all made in house. The owner was engaging but not intrusive. The Persian meal was perfectly paired with the right drinks. Everything was sublime. Thanks Gabby and Ben!
We’ve eaten here for dinner and decided to try the pop up window experience. We got the poutine and al pastor tacos. Poutine was crispy, tacos were flavorful, our tummies were happy. Everything is made in house and was delicious! The staff were helpful, kind and thorough. We will definitely be back!!
Agree with the other low reviews below. Very shocked they have such high reviews.Went to their pop up menu and was extremely disappointed. The menu looked awesome, they have about 6 things on it. We ordered 3 things and it was $50. The al pastor tacos were beyond disappointing.... they had zero flavor and I'm not sure what kind of tortillas they used but they were awful. We were so hungry after, we ended up at the Thai place across the street.I never mind spending money on good food and this just wasn't cutting it. I ate the tacos so fast just so I could be done with them. It was that bad.
I know others who love this place, but my husband and I thought it was overpriced and an odd dining experience. It's a tapas-style restaurant with only small plates of things like olives, flatbreads and meat skewers, with some specialty cocktails and wine. I was disappointed there were no vegetable items or salads on the menu, and although there's a full bar, you can't get any kind of mixed drinkexcept the featured cocktails. The dining room was very dark (at least they provide flashlights) and had unusually loud music for the small space. The woman (owner?) was very welcoming, but our server was very cold and borderline rude. He seemed offended that we asked if the music volume could be lowered since we couldn't hear each other, and it was clear he didn't want us there. In the end, we spent >$100 for 3 shared appetizers and 2 cocktails, which were good but not great, and left hungry.
Have come a few times over the past year. Two tent experiences and one inside the speak easy. The food, cocktails and service is wonderful! Owner is incredibly sweet and thoughtful with her guests, menu and aesthetic. These are pictures from the Valentines Day Pre Fixe menu - delish!
Craving a fine dining experience in a small unique setting? Look no further than Animarum. There is almost no proper way to describe the food their amazing chef prepares. I was very impressed to be seated by the owner. She is extremely friendly and obviously loves giving her customers a truly fantastic dining experience. From the elegant presentation of each course to the suggestions of just the right wine to pair with our meals...we were just amazed. We will be customers for life. We love supporting small local restaurants and will be recommending Animarum to all of our friends and family. Thank you for a great experience!
More than willing to change my rating after talking to management. I find it very poor business to force dinner reservations through a 3rd party app that charges up front with no refunds or ability to reschedule. Our daughter tested positive for COVID today impacting our ability to come in for our scheduled spot. We were told today that there's nothing that could be done for us and that she would see if "there was anything management could do" for a future visit. What a horrible disappointment to an already rough week.
Truly surprised at all the stellar ratings. We were pretty disappointed in our experience tonight. First, the host/server was very cold and acted completely uninterested in us, almost like we were a nuisance to her. She put out a very bad vibe and everyone felt it so it wasn’t like I imagined it. It seemed like she was a manager or maybe even an owner, not sure. She tried to force us to use her hand sanitizer before walking into the restaurant which was very off putting. Being sensitive to certain ingredients in products and knowing how toxic certain sanitizers are, we really didn’t appreciate this. When we politely declined, she seemed stunned and annoyed with us. She then told us to put on masks which we did with no issue even though our table was literally 2 steps away from the door, only to sit down and see none of the kitchen staff even had masks on. What was the point of something so illogical? The food is grossly overpriced for the quality and portions. Yes, we ate from the speakeasy menu so we expected small portions but goodness gracious, a teeny tiny piece of steak with no seasoning/salt that was 4 ounces but looked like it was 2 ounces (with nothing else on the plate) was basically $30. Everything we ordered was just sort of a let down and not worth the price at all. We ordered about 6-7 different things from the menu so we could try it all. Our favorites were probably the tuna tartare and the ribeye (the wagyu we ordered had zero flavor and the least favorite menu item along with the lobster claw which was very dry and chewy). The drinks were good and definitely made by a skilled bartender which we appreciated. We liked the vibe inside of the restaurant and the dim lighting. The chairs were comfortable and the decor was nice, but we would not return here.
This was our second time at Animarum. The first was in a tent for Moroccan Nights. An incredible event. The Speakeasy does not disappoint. Great atmosphere and ambiance.Service and attention to detail were topnotch.Drinks were amazing. Ah-mazing. Our new favorites are the Spiced Old Fashion, the Wards and the Blood Sage.We ordered the scallops, Empanadas, rib eye and theAhi tuna tartare. Absolute perfection. We look forward to being wowed again.
I love this place! Everything from the food to the décor is spot on! Plus, the service is always impeccable. The owner is always so welcoming and does everything she can to make it a memorable experience. Don't miss this little gem!!
