A tasty sushi joint! I'm always impressed with the quality of the food here. The quantity is always a little light, I don't leave here feeling like I've had a full meal. I would describe it as more of a light treat. The atmosphere can be kind of cold. The service is minimal, nothing special. Nothing poor. My husband and I noticed that the tipping portion of payment is crooked. We calculated what a 10% tip would be, because we wanted to tip that amount. When we entered it into the computer system they use for payment, the 10% calculation was much higher. Like extra dollars more. If the service was excellent, I'd feel more than willing to tip heavily. But the service was mediocre at best. I found it dishonest to see the tipping services inflated. If I didn't calculate it prior, I would not have realized this. As someone who worked in the service industry for many years, I always calculate my tips to the worth of the service.
The store manager at this location walked away from me and had all the associates walk away from me refusing to provide service after I asked for the district managers contact info in order to talk to them about my negative experience. Additionally, they started talking about me while I was in the store and pointing at me, yes literally pointing. Instead of owning up to their (mostly her, who they told me was the GM) negative and rude behavior she made the whole situation worse by being even more disrespectful and throwing some of the information I had requested in the trash. Way to go Fed-Way location. In fact the GM even said to give her bad reviews everywhere she didn’t care, well I can take instructions pretty well!
I was very pleased with my experience here. The sushi chefs are fast and create beautiful rolls. They have nice vegetarian options, which seem vegan friendly, and my dad is over the moon for the standard specialty rolls. The service is good here. The bathrooms are clean. The all you can eat sushi is $35 for dinner and $25 for lunch. As far as sushi goes, that is a good deal. Will be coming back regularly.
Today 6/29/22 I was celebrated my birthday! I invited my friends to Trapper's Sushi - Federal Way to celebrate this important day in my life! I turned 35 years old! The sushi was delicious! But the service was terrible we waited a long time for the waiter who was not particularly friendly ! At the end, we added soup and one serving of salad to the miso order - this order was never brought to us .... ok, I got the check! (it's good that I took the check) when I left I decided to check my check, they charged me money for a portion of soup and salad that we didn't even see or eat! (+ I also left a $20 tip)! when we entered the restaurant, we grew a table for 5 people, the waiter put us at a table intended for 4 people, and did not even add another service to our table (we had to wait a long time for service for 5 people) I am very disappointed with this restaurant! not friendly service! deception ! the desire of the client is not taken into account! chech #113 table 14 Server: Ajenique
I really like their sushi
My review was deleted! Coming back daily until it stays up!!!I ordered the Sashimi plate which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, salad and soup. I also ordered Unagi sushi. Was told 20-25min but it took almost an hour!I checked when I got out to my car and the salad and soup were missing.Went back and talked to Victor. As I showed him the unagi l and rolling around in a large clam shell, he said it’s nigiri what to you expect? I agreed with him and he said why are you being rude. At this point I just wanted to get out of there!Super disappointed when I got to my hotel room to find only 9 pieces of sashimi. The owner flagged this review so it would disappear!!!This is real! Look at the receipt.
Tiny portions & Understaffed. Their “full-size” rolls are 6 tiny slices. Spent $50 on sushi and still left hungry. Plus had to sit and wait staring at my tiny sushi rolls for 10min waiting for the waiter to bring out some wasabi/ginger, on my getto bench seats fixed with duck tape.Everything felt cheap. Had better sushi from a grocery store that’s been sitting out for a couple days. Left hungry and disappointed.
Edit: Didn't think I could be more disappointed with this business. Was happy to see a reply from them following my review. I contacted them and never heard back. Bad business practice.Came once. Never again. Loud atmosphere. Menu is mostly fried or spicy. Food is meh. We've had better sushi from the grocery store. Service to get seated is very slow, only 3 other tables had customers. Only good thing about the entire visit was our waitress. Very friendly.
The only constants at Trappers are great sushi and abysmal service. I've been a Washington resident for 8 years now. I lived between the Kent Station and the Covington location and for the first year I lived there, it was an almost weekly occurrence that I would eat lunch or dinner at one of the locations. Even 7 years ago, Trappers struggled with service regardless of location. Food is great. Sushi chefs are great. Whenever someone would come visit me out of town, Trappers was something I was proud of as a local and show off to them. It never let me down in the food department, never got sick even 8 years later and probably 100 times enjoying their food. Where they fall down, every time, regardless of location, and I've eaten at Kent Station, Covington, Bonney Lake, Lacey, and Southcenter is the service. I would say 9 out of every 10 times, it's either non-existent or subpar at best. In a restaurant of their size with the staff they had, there should be no reason to ignore customers who are intending to tip their service staff. Now let's talk about this location and this specific experience. I went there today to order takeout since I was out running errands. I ordered at 11:54am. I messaged my room mate to see what he wanted, and I messaged him back a minute after the order with their estimate of 10-15 minutes for 3 rolls. It seemed reasonable, so I went over to the pet store and did some shopping. I returned 25 minutes later, and my takeout was still not ready. The restaurant was NOT busy. There were 6 employees behind the line, and 6-10 customers in the restaurant, with only about half those at the sushi bar. 5 minutes later the server said that the food was coming up now and that they were busy. Cue my Ron Burgundy "I don't believe you" face. When I complained about this, the server just stood there with the bag defeated. Even a "Hey, let me get the manager, I sympathize with you and want to make this right" would have helped. I want this place to be good so bad. I want the level of service to match the level of food quality here, and this is not a knock on the people behind the line, just the service staff. It should not take 30 minutes for 3 takeout sushi rolls to be completed and given to a customer that's waiting in the store. It just shouldn't. I now find myself in search of another place with equally high quality sushi with 3 star staff. It hurts to write this review, but it's just a fact at this point that I'm going to be left disappointed when I visit. I'm not sure I'll be back to any of the locations from this point forward.
excellent service friendly staff and incredible sushi
