Amazing food, brought to your table very quickly. The quality was outstanding and the service friendly!
Great food and friendly staff
Service is mediocre, food can be fantastic. Consistency is a huge issue at this restaurant. Won’t be returning here again because 50/50 chance of the food being awesome isn’t worth the higher than average price tag. Word of mouth referrals has sparked this place to be real busy. How long before word of mouth starts trending the wrong direction?
Inconsistent food. Third time here, each time the texture of the nengmyun was different. The amount of sauce varies. Fish was crispy the first time, undercooked the second time, undercooked even more the third. Won’t return, better options available locally.
This restaurant became my new favorite Korean restaurant in town now. I ordered porkbone stew-Gamjatang and soybean soup. They are less MSG flavor but still delicious. I forgot to take a picture of side dishes, but I love their side dishes. They were fresh &delicious, and got 1~2 different side dishes whenever I go there. These days, a lot of Korean restaurants(in Seattle metropolitan area) became very stingy on the side dishes(it is understandable if I think of rent, labor, grocery price increase and Covid 19, but quite frustrated at the same time). They don't change the side dish menue, and serve very basic easy dishes such as store bought kimchee and mashed potatoes with mayo which is not a real Korean traditional side banchan. Bean sprout dish is a very basic side dish, and I noticed more Korean restaurant do not even serve that. But Hae Song includes more traditional Korean vegitable dish-Namul as side dishes, and I got dry Pollock dish as a side dish yesterday, which can be cost more and more "hands-on" dish when they make. It is true that there could be frustrating waiting time to get seated, water or paying a bill. However, it is understandable to me. Although they might be inefficient at serving, but they are not rude, at least they are kind. I noticed most servers are middle age of Korean ladies(assuming do not have much experience working in restaurants, this is only my impression), and their English was not that great. So, there could be a communication problem. However, hey, please be generous on that please. I've got so many bad services at other restaurants by young rude waiter/waitresses who doesn't have a communication problem. If you experience a bad service at HaeSong, I really think it is not intentional, more likely communication problem and inexperienced Korean lady servers who's not fluent in English. For the tip of paying a bill, just go to the front desk and waiting there. They notice you faster than just sitting on the table. Another, calling a waitress in loud is allowable in Korean restaurants in my opinion. Waive your hands or say in loud "hello" when you have a really long waiting period to see a waitress. As far as I know, all waitresses in the restaurant cover everyone. I don't think they were assigned to cover certain tables. It means that you can ask any waitress close by you. I hope these tips help you when you visit HaeSong. ☺️
We were 5 of adults. They charged 18%tip automatically. They said it is new rule after pandemic. I felt bad. I am not going to go back to that restaurant.
Still sitting the here in my booth since 6pm, not to mention my wait time from 5pm to be seated, waiting on the order to arrive around 7pm, waiter refused to refill our water. It is now 8pm and we've been polite, kind, and understanding for the waitress that was assigned to our area. Had to occasionally wave down other waitresses from other parts of the restaurant to get our order. Idk man, only way to vent my frustration was to write this while I wait to pay for our bill. I advise not coming in, unless you're okay with the above. It is now 830pm. Please send water...
Unacceptable customer services!!!!Took our orders let us waited 45 minutes then said they’re closed.
Been driving by this place for years (close to 10) but never went in till now. The front entrance and curb appeal can use a bit of sprucing up as it looks a bit run down. The inside looked clean and divided into the BBQ and regular dining section so depending on if you want to grill your own meat tabletop or just a simple sitdown meal. We opted for the BBQ. If you are unfamiliar with how to grill the meats, the staff will help you start and occasionally come to help cook it for you.Staffs were friendly and we were seated immediately. One thing to look for in a ethnically themed restaurant is whether they have customers of the same ethnicity because they know their own food and if this restaurant is serving great dishes. The menu BBQ menu were mostly a set meal where you choose your protein and side dishes cane with it. Usually pickled vegetables, soup, and rice. It's a bit pricey for sure. Though everything were fresh and properly marinated.
I was very disappointed today. The portion of Kalbi( the most expensive meat) was tiny, mostly were giant bones with very thin meat. The taste was rotten. We couldn’t finish it, it was pretty gamey. The service was fairly better than at other Korean places.
