Great fast service it's like a home cooked meal. The kind you need to get comfy to eat. Only not a 5 because the table spacing was a bit tight and you need to expand after eating that yummy biscuit.

Unsure start to this lunch trip. Not really my usual kind of place but omfg I'm so glad I stopped by. Most everything sounded good on the menu, prices seemed about average but what caught my eye was the taco salad. Hadn't had that in years.Took a little bit longer then expected to get it but it was pretty busy which is a good sign for indoor seating this day in age of covid. When it arrived I was blown away! Huge portion especially for the price! I can finish alot but I couldn't finish this. On top of that it was amazing! I will be back to try everything else over the next several months.Please come try this restaurant out if you've never been here. You won't be disappointed and you'll likely leave with leftovers for a late night snack!
Denice was our waitress and she was friendly and efficient. Portions are always very generous. I often end up taking my leftovers home and getting two more meals out of it. Today I kept it simple with a bowl of grits, a side of sausage and toast. The coffee is so good that I never have to add a thing. We like Black Bear Diner so much that we try to get over there for breakfast every few months even though it's about 25 miles away.
Fast service. Friendly. At home cooking. Plate sizes were bigger than I expected yet my hubby, son and myself left happy. Left overs that keep good after a couple days. Yummerz!I also didn’t mention that my son is four. Picky and he enjoyed his sausage and pancakes. His plate of bear cake was huge.We will be returning to this diner and location.
Egg is burnt and my plate is greasy and you can see the oil in end of my plate and the potato of my son plate are burnt too I have to ask my waiter to make a new egg because I can not eat the burnt egg and for my son potato he only eat the egg benidects which is over done too. It was bad experience & disappointed today eating your brunch with a burnt food.
Very personable staff. Older facility but quaint. Food was ok, nothing to write home about but very large portions. I regret not having tried the desserts but was a bit underwhelmed and didn't want to roll the dice.*** Be sure to ask for a military discount if it applies to you. ***
Food was good but underseasoned - please use some salt & pepper sitting the cooking!! It'll bring out the flavors. My county potatoes were a little dark, and I got lots of little bits (like a "bottom of the bag" kind of thing). Huge portions! I put half in a to-go container right away so that I wouldn't stuff myself, because aside from the lack of seasoning, it was so good!Husband said his chicken fried steak was just OK, but he probably wouldn't order it again. He loved his big fluffy pancakes, though.
Have been here multiple times. Service SUCKS! Food is always cold, I myself have banned going there. My husband goes with work friends or out of town vendors. Says it's so so when he goes.
I normally have had great experiences at the Black Bear Diners, but this visit at the Federal Way location was not one of them. They were out of many of the menu items that I wanted to order, the staff was polite, but that's it. It seemed like it took much longer than normal for our food to arrive. I had the huckleberry lemonade, but it tasted pretty much like just water. Very disappointing all around.
