This place was HORRIBLE! I spent $35 + $5 tip and I would love to get my $5 tip back (at a minimum). $23.50 was VERY overpriced for 3 SMALL pieces of cod (& chips). And, they make you pay for tartar sauce! The clam chowder….even worse! First of all, they didn’t fill it close to the top of the container, so we automatically felt we were getting ripped off. Plus, it was scorched, watered down, and had no flavor. There were about 5 small pieces of clam & potato. I never complain, even when restaurant food quality isn’t that good. But, I had to say something about the chowder. I told a young male worker that it was scorched. I politely asked for my money back. This worker rudely asked if we had eaten any of it.I said, “Yes, we wanted to at least try it.” He stated, “Since you’ve eaten some of it, I can’t give you any of your money back.” He absolutely refused to refund any portion of the cost & offered no solution. REALLY?!! You call that good customer service?!I will never return to this place and I will certainly tell as many people as I can to AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! IT’S HORRIBLE!!!

Y'all!!! I have found the best fish and chips in the PNW! (I've been on a personal mission for a little over a year now.) This place is a quaint hole-in-the-wall-esque mom and pop fish joint that really gets the job done! The fish is hand-cut and hand-breaded. The cod has a well-seasoned, more of a home style breading while the halibut has that panko crunch that I absolutely love! (I accidentally ate the halibut before I could take a picture of it!) The prices are great and the people are great! My only wish would be for a house made tartar sauce. Keep up the great work!

Today stopped by with my wife and dog after the park next door. Walked in lady was freindly. 2 entrees 2 sides 3 watercups. 52$. Wait outside foods there in 5 mins.Wife's chicken tenders soft and texture of undercooked chicken. Shes 8 months pregnant. Very disappointed slightly concerned for her health now. Thanks spuds. My chowder was probably 70 degrees me being a chef wished for hot chowder. But was lumpy and cold. My dog finished that for me. But my fish n chips so undercooked a river of freezer water poured out of my cod and spilled water all over my fries an experience we've never had thanks spuds.Worst 50 bucks I've ever spent the older guy at the counter looked uninviting. decided to go home dissapointed with out discussing how such food is acceptable

I’ve always wanted to try this place and I was very impressed. I had the halibut and chips, chowed and shrimp. Excellent flavor and texture. Great customer service and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

We were waiting for the ferry and went and ordered halibut/fries along with cod/fries and clam chowder. OMG I’ve never have complained but this food was horrendous!!One small piece of fish of each and the clam chowder had way to much flour, it was so repulsive. For $45.00 it was very disappointing.I’ve been to Spuds at Alki and night and day on food. Believe me don’t go there!!!

We've been going to Spud fish and chips since the 1998, almost 30 years. We first started going to the fish and chips in Juanita, Washington and then Spud's Fish & Chips on Alki Beach. Now that we live in Kitsap County, it's a ferry ride to the one in Edmonds. It has never disappointed us.

I was disappointed with my meal at Spuds in Edmonds. The fish was cut very thin, and the breading was thick and over cooked. It was like eating a crunchy piece of leather. I dumped most of it. I will not return, and I do not recommend this location.

First time trying this small chain eatery. I spent $63 and walked away wishing I bought a can of chowder and some Gordon’s at the grocery store. The food was over cooked. The breading was as thick as the meat and vegetables. And gee thanks for that one potato chunk in an otherwise smooth seasoned milk.

Spud is a beloved Seattle fish and chips chain dating back nearly 90 years. The Green Lake location had been a dependable treat for me and my family from my childhood, until it "temporary" closed last year. To have visited that location one wouldn't know the Edmonds Spud to be of the same lineage. I gave the Edmonds location two chances over 4 months. On both occasions I found the clams and fries to be fine. Crispy, not overly cooked, not oily, if not sparse for 9.00. Unfortunately most people, myself included, come to Spud for the fish. This is where I, and my family, found issue. Where classic Spud cod filets are large, thick slabs of white fish, with a golden breading that emits steam and moisture upon breaking them open, the fish filets at the Edmonds location were thin, anemic, dry shards of fish. I don't know if it's the source of the fish, the prep, or the cook that makes the fish so bad, but it's something. At $20.00 for 3 pieces and fries, it's inexcusable.

We tried this place out a few weeks ago. I grew up in Edmonds and was hoping to find a really good Fish and Chips place. Took my Dad with me. I ordered Rockfish and Chips and he got the Cod and chips. The inside of the restaurant is basically a plain look, nothing fancy but it was clean. Food didn't take long but there were only a few people there.Bill came to over 30 bucks. Thats with only one drink. They even charge if you want Tartar Sauce. I was expecting some really good food with these prices. Very disappointed. Fish portions were small at best. Lots of breading to make it look like more. My Rockfish was very greasy but my Dads Cod wasn't. My guess is they are undercookinig some fish as its coming right out of the freezer and some isn't. Fries were nothing special and a bit soggy too. Small amount. Now this may seem trivial but that Tartar Sauce they charge for isn't even fresh made. its in a little sealed individual container and its awful. Had a sweet kinda "off" taste. C mon... Tartar Sauce can be made fresh and inexpensive. Really its Mayo, Sour Cream, Dill, Relish, Onion and lemon.I would give this place a 1 star but hope they can re do this business to make it work. Its in a good area with the Ferry, train and marina nearby. They should up the portion size if they are going to charge that much especially for fries. Potatoes are inexpensive. My portion size of fries I got was basically a cup full. Please, if your going to charge for Tartar sauce, make it fresh and use a large enough serving size. Lastly, I would eliminate the Rockfish as they tend to taste fishy, fillets are too thin and they tend to be overbreaded like mine was. Stick to Large shrimp, Cod and Halibut.
