The Black Cat is my new favorite brunch spot! Come in Sundays until 3 for a brunch with a view and some incredible cocktails (I had the bloody Mary with clamato juice, just perfect)! To eat, I enjoyed the Croque Monsieur, and my guest, the crab Benedict which they enjoyed thoroughly. The Croque Monsieur was fantastic, the ham was sliced thick and was of superb quality, the bread (sourdough) was flavorful and stood up to the bechamel sauce, and the egg wasn't too runny, absolutely spot on! The fries, served underneath, were perfectly crispy, too. It did take quite a while to get our food, but luckily my guest and I had lots of catching up to do!I've only been to The Black Cat once before and enjoyed the fondue. I will say the cheese was great, flavor wise and in consistency, but found it odd that the broccoli was cold and the apples were room temp. I'd rather them the other way around. Other than that, both experiences have been delightful, great service, beautiful location, absolutely would recommend!

Solid lunch choice for dine-in experience. Street pay parking, rates vary by day/time. Located in an old building on one of the upper floors. Had a table by the window which overlooked the street below and a water view in the distance. Service a little slow during COVID likely due to staffing issues just like many restaurants are facing.

Great atmosphere, service and delicious drinks, especially the “Botanical Cure”.

Every time I go here, I am nothing short of delighted. The staff has always been super friendly and the food is very good on a regular basis. They have a great selection of beverages also.

I can't help but get multiple items here when I come, it's all so good!! I love the French Dip and my girlfriend loves to get the fondue!

This is a great place. We recommend that you get reservations before hand (we did 2 days before), as they are booked same day. It's in a great building in Fairhaven, with a cute court yard. It's on the 3rd floor, with signs all over the place to guide you up. We got a table by the window, with a view of the street below. The server was busy, but very attentive, and immediately gave us drinks. The drinks were great, with choices from pre-prohibition and contemporary. We got the fondue as an appetizer, it was perfect for 4 people, I'm sure it's more than enough for 2. Then, we had the fish and chips and the small Caesar salad with prawns, which were very tasty. Finally, we had the brownie sundae and the bread pudding, which both were exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely come back!

Walked from downtown Bham to Fairhaven and this was the perfect place to stop in for some food to warm up. Their grilled cheese was phenomenal! The soup was delicious for dipping and consumption without bread as well.Their drinks were stiff! Be prepared for a strong drink. We got the French 75 and the Old Fashioned and they both had some bite! Good bang for your buck.

Updated (12/21/2021) My wife and I absolutely LOVE The Black Cat. It is a great place for an afternoon cocktail, lunch, nibble, brunch or a full on dinner. We actually had our wedding luncheon at The Black Cat four years ago and the positive memories from that experience still linger to this day. The views over looking Fairhaven are beautiful and the service is always top notch. We currently live north in Canada (Vancouver area) BUT we are moving within weeks to Fairhaven (Covid or NOT!) and we cannot wait to experience everything that The Black Cat has to offer yet again! GOOD TIMES indeed! Do yourself a favour, EXPERIENCE The Black Cat, you won't be disappointed.

Food and atmosphere is always good?

The food was great. Seafood chowder wasn’t that great. It needs more seafood
