Incredible sandwiches and soups, as well as house made groceries like sausage, pate, and so much more. Exceptional wine selection and dry goods too. If you like food, you HAVE to go here.
On Thursday (1/13/22) I got the day's special panini with roast beef, caramelized onions, gouda, arugula and mustard. The bread was too dry, there was no arugula and there was too much mustard. The small amounts of beef and cheese were totally overpowered by the sheer amount of mustard on there. It was like eating toast with mustard for $14 plus tax and tip. Very disappointed that this "lunch spot institution" served up such a bad (and very small) sandwich.
Fantastic sandwiches, soups and salads made from quality ingredients. Many of them meats made in house. They got some everyday favorites like paninis and reubens to more niche fares as pates, rillettes and confits. When I'm in Bellingham I'll be stopping here every time I can.

It is clear they make high quality food. The locally sources bread is excellent and the ingredients are clearly prepared well. Unfortunately the person who put together my sandwich not only overcooked it slightly, which is forgivable and a matter of personal preference.. They forgot the tomatoes. 4 ingredients and they forgot one. My wife's sandwich was not overdone but actually burnt. Quite a bit of blackening on her bread. So unfortunately our first experience is likely to be our last. If they can put the same passion into crafting each sandwich that they do when making the ingredients this could be the best sandwich place in the area.
Brought my two sisters visiting from New Orleans to Old World Deli last week. Total win! They loved it!We had three different tasty sandwich/soup combos.The Hungarian Mushroom soup is to die for and absolutely worth a trip to the deli just for the soup on a cold rainy day! The warm foodie atmosphere is wonderful. Lots of speciality foods in the shop. Also a great place to order a sandwich and soup to go and then head out to enjoy at a beautiful local park...which I have done!
The Hungarian mushroom soup is a must-have. It was very filling and I would drive an hour out of my way to get a good cup of soup. There's so much on the menu that you just may want to stand aside and figure out what you want. It's all good!
