New Mexico Tamale Company cares about their clients (including their vegans)! Today I wanted to try their vegan "Zia" (cactus) tamale with vegan rice and beans. I ordered it to go and took it straight home to enjoy for dinner. When I opened it, I saw that there was cheese on my beans and a cream dressing on my salad. I called their number to ask if the cheese and dressing were a vegan version (since I cannot have dairy). The owner, Dora, answered the phone and confirmed I had received an incorrect order. I was ready to take it back and pick up a re-fire, but she *insisted* on bringing it to me herself! She said she values her vegan customers!!! When she arrived, she showed me a few more vegan goodies she had popped into my bag for good measure. Dora is an absolute sweetheart. I can tell she takes great pride in her business, and is a perfectionist in the kitchen! The food was spicy and full of flavor (not just "hot"), and I am happy to report that I like cactus (I had never tried it before). With their delicious food and outstanding customer service, I highly recommend giving this *local* restaurant your business--especially if you are vegan.
We accidentally found this place on a cold rainy Tuesday night in Bellingham. We missed the driveway to the restaurant we were going to have dinner. On our trip around the block we spotted the New Mexico Tamale Company. We love a good tamale. This place started in Fetndale and now it is Bellingham. The food and service was excellent. The price on Tamale Tuesday for two dinners of tamales rice and beans came to $26.00
if you are mexican or hispanic and are looking for authentic tameles, this is NOT it. %100 of the 5 star reviews are from white people. my husband had been wanting to stop here for months! we finally came in last night to try them and let me tell you that DISAPOINTED is an understatement. some of the tamales were dry and some were undercooked and mushy, the dough very thick. definitely not your abuelitas recipe. if u want authentic, go to the Skagit Latin Mall Facebook page. there are many ladies that sell tamales from home! NOW THOSE ARE AUTHENTIC!
I grew up in New Mexico. Dora's (the owner) version is middle to southern NM, but absolutely authentic and GOOOOD. We usually order online for takeout, but they have tables as well. We love the flat enchilada's with an over easy egg on top, with the wonderful salad. My wife prefers green chile, and I'd guess that most do. But the red chile is best to my taste. Her tamales (red, pork for me, green pork for her) are wonderful, and you can buy a dozen frozen to keep in your freezer. Her enchilada sauce (both green & red) are marvelous and freeze well. I hadn't had sopapillas in many years, and hers are supurb with the provided honey. If they aren't hot enough by the time you get home they reheat nicely in our convection oven. (3 minutes). Finally, the most amazing con queso (cheese sauce with green chile chunks) and super corn chips... We've been eating this authentic & wonderfully authentic NEW Mexican food for over a month, about 2 X per week. I can really say AWESOME and mean it.
Oh my god the food was so good. They do vegan food right. I loved it. The chefs deserve to be blown a million kisses by angels. I want to sleep on a bed of the soft delicious rice. The food came out so quickly. I ordered a second plate of food because I loved the first one so much. Thank you for making food for me and blessing my taste buds.
New Mexico native that's been unsuccessfully looking for authentic New Mexican food since 2001. I finally found it here. If you're from NM you will find actual Hatch green chilie, sopapillas, etc. If you're not from NM check this place out and learn why we're all so intense about green chilie. Highly recommended!!
I ordered a family pack of tamales for Christmas Eve and picked them up the day before. They were fantastic everyone enjoyed the tamales, rice and beans, and it was so nice to not have to cook. Thank you all for being so kind and providing my family with some very tasty high quality food!
This was my first trip to NM Tamale Company. The service was excellent and the food was better. The Chicken Green Chili tamales remined me of the food we ate when we lived in NM. The sides were all delicious. The prices were reasonable
