By Far the WORST experience I have ever had at any restaurant! Our server was great and was doing the best she could however the food took over 1.5 hours to get to our table. We saw numerous tables get seated before us who had eaten and left before we got any food. The owner Dave was terrible. He saw that we had been waiting for our food and came over after about 1 hour and 15 minutes to "Apologize". When our food arrived it was not worth the wait. The food was horrible, we had to send back the ahi tuna as it was un-edible, the rib eye wasn't even a 1/2 thick it was almost 1/4inch thick, dry and tasted watery, the pork ribs were all bone and hardly any meat and the duck was undercooked and cold. There were so many excuses that were given to us regarding why our food took so long and why our food didn't taste so good or was bad. By the end of our meal half of our party had enough and ended up leaving to go get food elsewhere. The owner and our server came over to our table with some "free" desserts and the owner said he would be taking $180 off our meal. When we received our bill all items that we had ordered were on the bill, even the items that we sent back and didn't eat, all desserts were on the bill, and nothing had been taken care of. Overall terrible experience, horrible food and most stingy owner I've ever met! Will not be going back ever and will make sure to let everyone know not to ever go check it out.
Lovely space on the side of Lake Whatcom. Varied breakfast menu that all looked good. My chicken fried steak was a perfect portion, crispy and spicy, slathered with a corned beef gravy and accompanied by eggs and crunchy potatoes. A homemade biscuit with house butter and an amazing berry jam was an unexpected bonus. Combine a visit to this well run restaurant with a hike on one of the local trails for a perfect half day out.
When a restaurant jacks up its prices doesn't it accept responsibility to deliver high quality food with excellent service? That the Fork at Agate Bay doesn’t accept that responsibility was on display last night when poorly trained servers dropped off food without explanation or presentation, brought salads in the middle of our appetizers and the main courses before we were finished with the salads. Their raw oysters were fine, but the restaurant "presents" its mignonette in a medicine bottle with a dropper, which might be a clever thing provided the server explained it a little. Without that explanation, I found myself looking carefully at the less than clean bottle for earwax, just gross. (I wiped the bottle clean before trying it). Blowing the timing of the courses can be excused once, but not repeatedly. Maybe the young staff are all the restaurant can find these days, but it is then incumbent on the restaurant to train them how to do their jobs properly. The server was shocked when I turned her away while we finished our salads, explaining that she just didn't want my steak to get cold. In that moment I understood that it wasn't her fault, nobody had ever taught her how to do her job well. Forgivable at Outback perhaps, but when you charge almost $50 for the steak, $60 for a Dungeness crab it feels like a rip-off. The food was alright, but not special. My steak was cooked as ordered and a quality cut of meat. My companion's Bouillabaisse tasted of Old Bay seasoning more than anything, but at least the shrimp wasn't chewy. I wish that I could recommend Fork, it is so nice to have it here in Bellingham, but it hasn't been the same since the founders sold it a few years ago. Disappointed.
Got Forked at The ForkOverpriced, overrated, pretentious, unflavored. $12 for a Ceasar salad the size of a dinner salad. The sausage and mushroom pizza was completely tasteless. I have had better pizzas from Papa Murphys and the frozen food section of any grocery store. No idea why anybody thinks this place has such good food. 40.00 down the drain with no satisfaction. Will not be back.
A disappointing experience. We told the staff it was a special occasion and then proceeded to get bad service where we were ignored most of the evening. They never gave us a bread bowl, the server disappeared for half an hour after taking our drink orders before taking the food orders. The long wait for the food and slow service would have been OK if they at least kept the drinks coming but the server never checked on us once throughout the 2 hour meal. The house cocktails we had tasted bad and they were out of one of their entrees before 7pm on a weekday. Half of the dishes were tasty and the other half were average. Overall, this was not an enjoyable fine dining experience and I hope they do better for other customers.
Just delicious and excellent service, food and adult beverages. We’ll be back!
the staff oh yes the foods ummy

It wasn't busy and we waited 50 minutes for a burger and BLT. The food was good, could have been great. The server seemed dis interested in her job.If the server were attentive, she could have eased my displeasure, but she only walked by a couple of times. They had a chance and lost me as a guest.
I had the best meal tonight that I've had in a long time. I loved this restaurant for a few reasons. 1) the menu was pretty limited, but the options were all unique and sounded amazing. 2) The food did not disappoint. The flavors were so very good, and the portions were adequate. 3) the atmosphere is very nice. Quiet, warm, cheery. The staff were lovely as well. We got the Cajun shrimp appetizer, and I could easily have made this my meal... It wasn't huge, but it was enough for 3 of us (ladies) to share. It was so so good... I don't know if I've ever had grits before, but I'm my mind they are akin to paste. Not these ones... They were creamy and cheesy and oh so good. We shared a Caesar salad between the three of us, and we each got a small portion, but enough. I will say that of everything we ordered, I feel like the salad was a bit overpriced. We got 2 large lettuce leaves and 3 smaller ones. They were dressed nicely and had capers and 2 anchovies. $12 seemed steep, but not worth causing a ruckus, and it certainly didn't run the evening. ? I ordered the grilled catfish with dill fettuccine. Now again, I went out on a limb. I've heard that catfish can taste sort of muddy, but the rest sounded interesting enough that I decided to try it. When it came to the table, my first thought was that it looked small. But it was definitely the perfect portion for me. I ate every bite. And the flavors that they put together were light enough that it wasn't rich, but flavorful enough that I wanted to keep eating. The catfish was perfectly crusted, and delicious. The fettuccine was so uniquely done, also very light. I loved every bite. We got key lime pie for dessert, and oh man! Again, it was a bit on the small side, but we shared it and felt like we got plenty. The prices were high, but again, this is the best meal I've had out in a very long time. So it was definitely worth it. Dinners ranged from $20 for a pizza (I was really tempted by these), to $48 for a rib eye meal. Appetizers averaged about $12, as did the salads. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend this place.
