The best hot pot/dolar place in greater Seattle area, but also the most expensive one. The meat plate is great, way better than any other hot pot restaurants! The seafood and vegetable dishes are also very fresh. I would recommend to go with the silver soup (chicken and pork tripe), spicy soup base isn't very suitable IMO. The special dip sauce is amazing, very unique flavor and a little spiciness in the sauce is perfect!
The Dolar Shop has been on my list for a while and I finally got to try it out with some friends. You choose your own soup base for your personal hot hot (combination/2 bases is also an option!) and you put in your orders in a tablet. There are some pretty fancy menu items (we got the thick cut wagyu short rib, hand cut prime short rib, shrimp paste, and many more...) for the hot pot, as well as some appetizers/snacks - I particularly enjoyed the beef pancake! You get complementary soft serve towards the end of the meal. Prices are on the higher end, but overall we had a decent, elevated hot pot dinner experience here - the service and the food were both great!
The quality is amazing topped off with professional service and a nice ambiance. You can tell the food is very fresh and the broth is on another level. This will be the best hot pot you’ve experienced but it is not cheap. This is not all you can eat so expect to pay for every add on. Bill was $400 (tip incl) for 5 people
Social media advertisements sure make it compelling to go, but those videos and stage closeups sets high expectations but reality is, don't expect much! There are videos of restaurants I've dine at and disagree but for new restaurants, just have to explore! For TDS, it seems best to do this during their Monday- Thursday lunch happy hour, 20% off. Now to the meal. The difference is with the higher quality beef and seafood options at a nice location, everything else is just standard affair. It is ala carte, so this adds up. I don't know why the vegetables and sides are $$$, and how they display it looks like any standard restaurant. Is it local? Organic? Why not showcase that information to justify the price? The sauce bar is extra $, we've been to other places where this is complimentary. The meal ended with complimentary soft-served ice cream. Was it worth $150, lunch for two? No drinks but did order, an order each of prime beef and live prawns, we concluded we would just be as happy as going for "regular" hot pot. Our experience also had a lot to do with our first waiter. We felt rush and didn't provide updates. Took very long for the prawns, wanted to cancel. Order a side of rice, had to ask several times. She went on break and Tony took over, made a difference otherwise this would be a 2* review.
Great dinner experience. Food was delicious.
The soy sauce they make for you is awesome good. I have been kept coming back. But just so you know price are expensive. It could’ve be 4 star but I just love the service and sauce they made.Just so you know some of ppl don’t think it’s really good but I value it’s good cuz service are nice, food are fresh (not frozen food for long time) and their sauce are good.
We were a table of two on a Wednesday night. We called on Tuesday for an early appointment, 6pm, and were told they could only accommodate us at 545pm. Indeed, they were completely full when we departed at about 730pm. I think this is a difficult to find location, and difficult to photograph as well. It's at the very end on the second floor, you can't see it from a distance. Also, it's on the second floor. The maps of the complex are poor, it is difficult and time consuming to locate yourself and know which way you are facing. The restaurant is almost next to Gucci. And Gucci is a good place for this restaurant, this is high end nice for certain. There are various types of tables and seats, mostly depending on party size. You can't just show up with extra folks, everyone needs a hot pot at their seat. You are not crowded at all, it's spacious seating not covid spacious, just spacious. And the chairs are comfortable. You walk in past the kitchen area where you will be shown live lobster and fish, lovely meats, beautiful vegetables, and then a sauce bar where you can stock up on dipping sauces. Next to that is fresh kimchi. By that I mean a kimchi type dressing on fresh inner leaves of cabbage that are not fermented and eaten fresh. Lastly, there's a giant bowl of peanuts. As difficult as it is to locate, the benefit is inside, you have a lovely view from the second floor (seems higher) and the restaurant is windows on two sides. The decor is lovely, clean and understated, You are here to have the hot pot you need. At the table you're quickly greeted and water provided. If it's you're first visit you will want to be guided through the menu which is presented on a tablet only. Your waiter will explain how the meal is presented and explain that everyone must choose a broth and the accompaniments, meats, veggies, whatever combo they present. You can also split your bowl and choose two. Broth is refilled whenever needed. Then you can add whatever, more veggies, mushrooms, noodles, different cuts of beef, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, lobster, i am sure it changes with the seasons to some degree. You order on the tablet and the broth arrives fairly quickly. Make sure to run to the bar to get some kimchi, it is outstanding. Get sauces too if you like, but it isn't needed to enjoy your meal. Broth is poured into everyone's personal hot pot. The Shezuan is very hot indeed, no games here. There is a mushroom broth that looks really good. Everyone will find something tasty, these are the recipes that make the restaurant. The heat is turned up and you are shown how to lower the temperature once a simmer is achieved in a few minutes. Then the food arrives beautifully presented. You are told how long each ingredient takes to cook. 2 minutes for our sliced cod, 3 for the short ribs. There is definitely an advantage to having a large group to try more things. But a table of two will have a great time as well, we did. Two big guys, two broth with meat sides, short ribs, sliced cod, veggies, shrimp ball, 3 beers about $180 all in. Make reservations, they are needed. Allow 10-15 minutes after parking to get up to the restaurant unless you know where to park in the underground lot. They validate.
Of the hotpot shops in town, The Dolar Shop is definitely more of a fine dining option that comes with a competitive price tag. We didn’t have a reservation but we called and they told us that online reservation is different from showing up in person for a table. We had a party of 10 and we were promptly set up in a private room in sub 30 minutes. The selection of ingredients is plentiful and very much fresh. Overall a good experience!
I’ve always wanted to try the spot I had the chance to try it yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner. They have a parking garage underground which you can validate your parking and I highly highly recommend booking a reservation through Yelp. And the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Hot pot can be ordered through iPad and comes with it complementary appetizer and sauce bar that is automatically charge to the meal. We ordered and the food came out pretty fast and looked gorgeous. The spice was very good, perfect spiciness and had a lot of flavor on the same goes with the sauces. The table that we were seated that was kind of small for four people but anyways I highly recommend in Noodle, beef and seafood. Overall it was a good experience I say that we ordered about 2 to 3 plates to many so you can definitely come away with it around $60-$70 per person depending on how much you eat. They also come with complementary soft serve ice cream at the end.
Lovely environment. Great service and great food.Love their soup base - real bone broth instead of some instant mix of seasoning powder.Always nice to have free dessert ;)Highly recommend
