The dining experience was as bad as it gets. The waiter wasn’t listening to us when we are ordering. And they try to sell us the dishes we didn’t want for three times. Regarding the dish, the rib was bitter and the tofu didn’t have any salt in it. And a lot of dishes on the menus are not available… but they don’t point that out until we start to order. Just try to be cautious when you choose to dine here.
Very rude server during our time here. Upon arriving one of the server asked 2 of my guests if they were Chinese or Korean and passed the menu only to them, completely ignoring me. The rest of our party arrived and then proceeded to question us what we wanted to order saying it's too much (we wanted leftovers). At that point, I've already dinged them on the tip due to the server/ service and I'm glad I did since I was paying for the entire party. Towards the end of us eating she proceeded to speak in front of me in Mandarin (note I can understand what she is saying) to one of my guest. Asking if we like the food and if it was our first time there. Asking if we were Korean based on the tip that I punched in being below 15%. They need to be respectful and conscious of everyone at the table, especially when they don't know who will be paying the bill.
Vegetables tasted like congee. The food is not like Shanghai dishes. Waitress is rude.
I got takeout from here and I really liked the tofu dish and the braised pork belly. I am not Shanghainese but reminded me of when I ate at a home of Shanghainese friend.
First time back to Shanghai House since they moved across the street. I ordered to go by phone and they told me 10 minutes, it took 20 for my food to be ready.I ordered Mongolian beef, two stars, with extra green onions. What I received was a soggy under-spiced dish that was almost stew like, losing all the character of the famous dish, with a ton of white onions and almost no green. That crispiness that makes Mongolian beef so delicious was completely lost on this experience, the onions were all over-cooked and the under-spiced soggy sauce was quite disappointing. The service was friendly and there was a generous portion of beef.Hope you folks can pick up your game! #dobetter
Not as expected. We ordered three dishes and none of them tasted as authentic as Shanghai taste.
This is one of the most authentic Shanghainese restaurant I’ve been to so far. Exquisite taste, would highly recommend. My personal favorites include the double-cooked fish (mind the bones), crystal shrimp, and drunken chicken.
Food is authentic and tastes great. A good place to eat at a rainy night.

I haven’t visited the place for a year or so, but looking through the reviews…ppl getting chased after for not tipping enough, and they charge 10 bucks for steamed rice…definitely not going there for a while now…I mean seriously 10 bucks for steamed rice!?
