Our family has LOVED Gor Gai for years. Sometimes we would go twice a week. Their food used to be so flavorful and one of the best restaurants around. #1 in our books I have ordered twice in the past couple months and have been saddened by the changes and lack of quality. Today we ordered 8 meals for a staff farewell. I ordered online at 10:00 am for a noon pick up. We were there at noon and they hadn't even started the cooking yet. When we started eating, every meal lacked flavor. The pad thai was sweet and bland. I had the Pad Kee Mao - there wasn't any spice at all, the tofu was stale. I am not sure if it's a new cook, or a rushed afternoon, but for the amount money we spent - it was a disappointment. Because we know what they used to be like, hopefully this funk will be temporary. In the meantime, we wont be visiting for awhile.
1st this little place was hard to find. There isn't a big sign, it looks like a little house....so don't blink. Once you get in you place your order and they will bring it to you. The Chinese broccoli with pork was the bomb...crispy, good and full of garlic. The chicken satay was simple but the peanut sauce was a little different than what I am used to...it had a little spice and I liked that. The rice was good, had great flavor and who doesn't love a spring roll.
I use to tell people to eat hear not anymore I also will never eat here again! I ordered pad Thai chicken mild ! And it came like thick sugar sauce all I could taste was sweet sugar it was honestly disgusting like noodles with syrup for 15 dollars barley any chicken . I picked threw it and trashed the rest . Man the cook needs to do better defiantly no chef .And they don't operate off stars like a good thai restaurant does. They make nothing to order everything is fake reheated in a pan.
Customer service was excellent. I called in my order I requested no onions in any of three items I ordered. Got home super hungry had not eaten all day ? onion were in all three dishes I ordered. So did not eat my food it was late did not feel up to driving back for corrected dish so I ate the rice called it a night ?. Ps they did offer to replace my order when ready. I will give a new review when able to enjoy my onion free dish. ?I went back on 1/29/22 to redeem my order. Again customer service great very friendly. I received my order no onions ? it was delicious I had Pad Thai and Pad keemao.
I wanted to try something new. My dish was so good. It's been a long time since i had something good around this area. The service was very quick as well. I'll definitely try this place again.
They must make their income solely off of first time customers.Tiny portions, overpriced, and really awful bland satay. My pad thai had 4 tiny chunks of dark chicken meat. The other pad thai was beef. Got 3 tiny slices smaller than my finger and was charged an extra $2 for it.
Kao pad is a go to ?? yes it’s a little pricy but for authentic Thai food it’s worth it.. every penny.. it’s amazing that this restaurant is tucked away in auburn, very hole in the wall nothing beats it
Had the Pad Ka prao (pork) and green curry (shrimp). Flavors were authentic, spice level was legit, a nice kick that didn’t drown out the flavors of the dish overall. Portions were fair, considering COVID and supply chain and labor issues. The brown rice is great quality and whole, including the husk! I’ve never seen this at an Asian restaurant. The cooked veggies still had vibrant colors/weren’t over cooked. Food wasn’t too fatty/oily. They prepared it quickly. They also have pickled Thai and jalapeño peppers which add a nice complexity to the spice. I ordered full spicy for my dishes.
The good ratings fooled us. The food is disappointingly mediocre, but that's not the end of the critique. As an other reviewer noted the doors are filthy and the kitchen area is a disaster. We didn't use the bathroom.Where are the health code inspectors?
First time here, nice little area in Downtown Auburn. I ordered to-go Pad See ew, when I was handed the order I noticed it was super light weight and already I knew that It was gonna be a small portioned meal. When I opened it I was right, I mean it was alright tasting, but for $15 and a tip it better be on the heavy side!! For the price it should be family size, what a rip off for basic thai food. Definitely a place for non Asians lol. It should've been priced around $8, I'll stick to viet food around the around.
