Based on service. I order for two and both orders served on same take out container. Owners/ employees want save money on presentation and served on basic white foam take out container. Very rude old lady dump my tray on table walked away, without one word. I guess they are a custom to people buying and saying nothing in regard poor service. Well I refuse to recommend based on default belief. This is not friendly place and sushi is not that good. It's basic just like owner/ employee.
Really enjoyed this place. There were maybe 3 or 4 people in front of us and we had our orders within 20 minutes. My friend and I split a large sushi and a small sushi with meso soup and were both satisfied with the portion and quality. There was only 2 people working with a nice lady handling orders and the gentleman preparing food so please don't act like the 2 young women who were horribly offended that they didn't have their food inside of 10 minutes
I walked into Umi Sushi today and I said hello in a nice warm tone like I always do when entering an establishment. My daughter and husband walked in a few seconds later and also said hello pleasantly. The woman (who looked like she may have been an owner or sushi chef) behind the plexiglass stared in my face and said absolutely nothing. She looked at my husband in a smug manner and said absolutely nothing. She did not wave or nod or smile at all. She looked annoyed and then went on to duck down behind the counter and stayed down there for at least eight seconds. I'm not sure how long she stayed down there because my family and I left. Quite a disappointment as I live only minutes away and eat sushi often. My family and I won't be returning.
Very nice place, fresh fish and cute small restaurant , it's a sushi bat shaped like an L, the best part is the variety of the fish and drinksCozy little benches about 10 people can get in at a time you can defenetly order to go and the owners are the sushi chef and server. From sushi, niguiris, specialty rolls, sake, plumwine, edamames, bowls of rice with niguiris and more I do recomended. 5 out of 5 . Prices are 3 out of 5 they are a little high but you can always come for a special day.
This might be the best kept secret in all of Yorktown! If you find yourself near the Yorktown Beach on Water Street check this place out! The Korean BBQ was amazing! Great sushi, too! I will he back!
I just had a wonderful early birthday dinner with my sister. Delicious as always, well worth the drive from Hampton!
Excellent quality sushi/sashimi. A small little nook in Yorktown, with only sushi bar seating, this is perhaps a hidden gem. Maybe not. I'm helping my son & family move so I wouldn't know but for a mid-afternoon break this was perfect. The miso soup & tea-perfect. The sunomono appetizer quite elegant. The sushi rolls done with top quality seafood. One of us had beef which was perfectly cooked & seasoned. There were several options for beverages including sake of course. We really enjoyed it and the couple who run it are just very lovely people. Hope you enjoy it.
Freshest fish around and in a small setting so you can just enjoy your meal without a lot of noise. For those of you who like spicy tuna try theirs! They don't do the scrapping off the skin like the other places, they cut you a block of tuna and make it spicy. Michael and Sun are the best and so friendly. I would recommend anything raw here it is all amazing!!
This is the best sushi I've had outside of Japan and Vancouver... Truly excellent! Even the soy sauce was a premium variety with depth and complexity.
My husband and I were very happy with our visit to Umi Sushi. We had the bulgogi dup bap and large sushi with nigiri and California roll. It was all very good and the sushi was very fresh. The highlight for me was the kimchi which was so fresh tasting and flavorful. It was so good! I also appreciated the owner’s help in trying sake for the first time. The seating inside is limited but the outdoor seating area where we ate was very nice.
