I was a LOYAL customer, until TODAY! I have been purchasing from this establishment since I moved to the area in 2018 due to my cousins’ recommendation. I went back and looked at all the cakes I have purchased which is approximately 25+ cakes, but I have truly lost count. As one can see I am loyal, but expect to be treated fairly and with good customer service. However, I do not feel valued as a customer at the establishment anymore! I purchased a birthday cake, pick up for today. It’s beautiful, however it’s missing the “Happy Birthday” inscription on the back of the cake. I didn’t realize this until I got the cake home. I have a birthday brunch tomorrow and messaged the owner about this and this is the vague response I received “Hi Apryl! I’m so sorry! I see that it wasn’t noted on your invoice and the decorator went off of what was written. I’m glad we got it to look as you wanted with the exception of the Happy Birthday Apryl.” My response was “I thought I requested that in my email. Is there anyway I can get it written on the back?”. The response I received was “Unfortunately I’m in NC until tomorrow afternoon and my decorator is also out of town. I’m sorry Apryl.” My feelings are more hurt than anything as I am a loyal customer and didn’t expect this kind of vague/nonchalant response. No, “I can fix it for you”, “let me offer you something else due to the inconvenience”, nothing! Customer service is essential! Customers help small-business owners sustain and flourish. It’s a two-way street! Unfortunately, I will be finding another bakery to patronize.UPDATE: I received an email from the owner in regards to this post. I replied back and have yet to receive a response from owner regarding ways to rectify this situation. Again, where is the customer service?UPDATE: It is 4/7. I emailed the owner about making this right and have YET to receive a response back. I was offered a refund, accepted it and no response! This definitely shows her lack of customer service! I see she is willing to make things right for some customers but not all. This is despicable and unnerving!UPDATE: 4/7 - Owner stated I was "throwing shade" on her business. Again, who talks like that to a customer? Unprofessional! Offered a $20 refund on a $206 cake. This place is a disgrace, especially to people of color. This just goes to show you what kind of person the owner is. Other bakeries/business would never. She can keep them dry AF cakes and attitude! I will be taking further action.UPDATE 5/2 - Tanya, has lied again. She stated she would REFUND my money in an email, which was about 4 weeks ago, and has yet to do it. She is truly a horrible person. This says so much about her character and the person she really is. She is only interested in getting her money and selling dry cakes. Another email sent to her requesting my refund.
I used to love this bakery the customer service is absolutely terrible. I refuse to support a business that treats their customers like we don’t matter. Y’all can keep your hard as bricks brownies and bad attitudes. As long as Duncan Hines has boxes on the shelves I won’t return.
I went into this shop after seeing this shop on the news. I purchased slice of pie, cookie and cupcakes. VERY VERY disappointed. ALL the items I purchased was old. Pie wouldn’t cut the bottom stayed in the container and it didn’t taste like sweet potatoe, Icing & cupcake hard as rocks. I will be contacting the owner about this for the price I paid these items should’ve been fresh not 3 days old. people attend bakery for fresh items and GOOD. It’s hard to support and patronize a business that sell old products……
I went here because I wanted a cupcake from Original Cupcakes in DC but didn’t want to make the drive. The reviews here seemed to be better than most in close proximity to this location. However, this was the worst mistake I’ve made in a while. Terribly bad experience. $20 down the drain! Four of the six cupcakes I purchased were as hard as a brick; including the icing. Trashed them! Very disappointed! I should’ve been safe and just gone to Wal-Mart.
This is my 3rd time ordering a birthday cake here and it will be my last. I’m so upset at the quality of this cake. Honestly the cake looks like a child made it. At first I was upset by the appearance but I hoped that at least it would taste good. Well unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all. I ordered a vanilla cake and was given all chocolate. The icing was super hard and the cake was crumbly. If it weren’t for the icing that cake would be falling apart. Absolutely awful. What a way to ruin someone’s birthday ?
Good gracious! My husband’s job had a triple layered chocolate chocolate cake delivered for his birthday and all he could say is good gracious. It was rich, decadent and delicious. Our family of six, grandpa and 8 of neighbors came by to have a piece and there is still cake leftover.
This place used to be good... I recently visited to have ANOTHER cake custom made and was immediately met with I have to place my order online. I let the worker that I've never had to do this before and asked if this was a new policy. With no further words on the matter she then asked to see a picture of the cake I wanted. Ok... I showed her the picture on my phone, she took my phone with her to the back and shortly returned with "it'll be $350". I did let her know that I've come to this establishment for 3 custom orders within 2 years and I've always been able to have a short of consultation of options before prices were thrown around. She told me that "prices have gone up and this is what it is". I said thank you and left. If Tanya wants to keep returning customers and not jeopardize referrals for new customers; change needs to benefit both her company and the customer.
Came in for 1-2 cupcakes but left with 6 because I got told it would cost less but I still got charged for 6. Also the cupcakes did not taste fresh and were hard. For $20.50 I could’ve gotten a Food Lion cake that tasted better or made my own.Reply: I threw the container away.
Tanya and her crew were a pleasure to work with. I had the strange request of having a cake pops cake for my wedding on September 5th and she delivered on it. Our guests could not get enough! We cannot wait to have our anniversary cake next year!
Great customer service and great vegan cake options. I ordered a vegan red velvet cake for a birthday party and it was decorated absolutely beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a crowd pleaser for both the vegan and non-vegan guest.
