I read the reviews prior to going to this establishment. Right off the back the prices that were listed next to the items I ordered did not add up. What should have costed me $45 actually costed me $68.76. So wow! I’ve purchased more food from another local restaurant for less money: 4 a La carte rolls, 2 orders of dumplings, and cha shu ramen for $60! And the food at that place is far better. The dumplings were good and the sushi just ok nothing really special and the plum tea was good. If it wasn’t for the prices magically being something more than listed I would go back for the dumplings and tea but not the sushi.
2 years ago I would visit here often, when I moved to Texas nothing compared, especially the dumplings and plum tea, I craved it, fast-forward and I'm home again, and here I am sitting in the familiar seating, eating food that I could have sworn I dreamt up because of how amazing it taste, the wonderful owners make this with so much love, and the love shows in everything from presentation, conversation, and food. This is a gem you can not risk missing. This is a little slice of Korean heaven.
04/04/2022 Don't order from door dash, the restaurant isn't partnered with them. If you do order from door dash there's a good chance your order will be messed up. Incredible sushi, amazing service. A small business not a chain. The sushi was amazing. Will definitely be going back. The owner was great to talk to and had some amazing recommendations. I hope they survive the pandemic. The restaurant is definitely a great place to either sit and eat or get take out. The owner's son is a USMC so if you order from them you'll help support a veteran business.
Sushi was delicious! You might think the prices are high but absolutely worth it for the quality of the ingredients being used. The fish was FRESH and the homemade soy sauce was delicious. Also, definitely an experience. My friend and I got lessons from Bento Mom!
Oh my goodness, Mama Bento said I'll see you soon and she was not lying! The whole establishment is so welcoming and the food to match. I ordered vegetable sushi because I'm allergic to seafood, and they took extra precautions for me. The ramen was GOOD! A little pricey, but the taste makes up for it. That food is delicious and I will definitely be coming back.(GET THE TEA.)
Overpriced! Excuses were due to inflation. Charged for little add ons like soy sauce. Ramen tasted like they were those 0.42 cent ramen you get at Walmart. Which is right across the street. And supposedly it had chicken which I found no traces of. Will not return and do not recommend.
Thank you Bento Mama! The food was amazing!I was taught how to eat sushi the correct way and the food was delicious! I got the salmon (combo #12) the flavor was amazing and very high quality. Also tried the dumplings a MUST GET. They are delicious. Recommend this place! 5 of 5!!
Not only is the sushi some of the best in the area, the owner is such a welcoming person. She makes her own soy sauce, the dumplings are excellent and they have such a large variety of excellent sushi, especially the more traditional kind. This is my third time going, and I can say that would not eat sushi from any other place.
To the comments giving bad reviews: 1. Who orders sushi for delivery? It’s supposed to fresh. 2. Sushi is always ‘overpriced’ for the amount of food you get. At least this place gives you high quality ingredients. You can really taste the difference. 3. Other reviews complaining about the dining experience really don’t seems to have a developed taste. The sushi is so good that it doesn’t matter is you are just giving “one napkin”. Ask for more. The sushi is delish. The true flavor of the rice and the fish and the extra topping really come out because they don’t douse the sushi in so much sauce that all you taste is the sauce. It really is fresh food as you must sit and wait for the order to be made. You can also observe the owner making it. I was never too much of a sushi fan, but this place has won me over. Also, the owner is a wonderful women. She has a lot of humor and is very welcoming. She likes getting to know her customers and developing a relation with them.

So, the reviews for this place were greatly mixed and I decided we should give it the benefit of the doubt and try it for ourselves. I have to agree with the more negative reviews on the whole. The most positive thing I can say is that Mama Bento (the woman who greeted us and took our order) was very pleasant and welcoming. The sushi was OK/average. The 'salad' was literally chopped cabbage and a few slivers of cucumber - they charged as if it was a steak salad. The edamame was a tiny little cups' worth and again, charged as if it was at least a pound of edamame. My husband ordered chicken katsu and I kid you not, there were maybe 12 TINY pieces of chicken that was mostly breading and they charged something like $16 for it. I was mind blown. We could have gotten an entire boat of sushi at any other establishment for what we paid for 2 decent sized rolls, 1 small california, a 'salad', edamame, dumplings and order of chicken katsu (almost $100). I do not know if it has always been like this or if this is the result of having to upcharge due to C-vid. Either way, I don't think we will go back because it was just too expensive for what we got. Oh, and the bathrooms were closed. I had to walk my kiddo down the block to use the Firehouse Subs bathroom. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. fit of the doubt and try it for ourselves.
