We loved this place the first time we came here, so we thought to try it again.We stopped by at 4:00 pm for some food and a margarita, but we found the front door ajar and all of the lights off. We checked to see that all three of the neon “OPEN” signs were illuminated, so we entered the restaurant to see that no one was there. There was tip money lying out on the register with no sign of employees and the place was empty. We both called out to see if anyone was in the building, but did not receive a response. We ended up waiting outside for a few minutes and even called the restaurant with no response. Strange to say the least…We met the owner the last time we stopped by and thoroughly enjoyed our visit, but to find a neglected restaurant with no one attending the business was a bit disconcerting. The owner needs to ensure this type of scenario does not occur too often as thieves could have easily had a field day with money, liquor, TVs, etc…
If you want real authentic Mexican food and you are a foodie like me, this is the place for you. It's in a beautiful house with private rooms and a bar. Very cozy and friendly service. We will come back again.

The service was prompt and friendly. I definitely felt welcome. The Tres Amigos Enchiladas was a delicious and generous serving. The next time I am in the area I will certainly stop in.
I want to start this review off by saying, we’re from West Texas. We thrive on good, authentic mexican food. Since our move to the east coast, we’ve struggled with finding exactly that.Until we stumbled upon this truly hidden gem.We read reviews before we ever try a new restaurant, and the positive reviews of Almitas are what convinced us we should give it a try.Ya’ll!! The service was top notch, better than that of most high end chain restaurants. The food was “lick the plate clean” worthy, I had a margarita that bordered on heavenly, and then we were met with this extravagant dessert, their Tres Leche.For us, this place provided food that wasn’t just good taste wise, but it went straight to our souls. So if you’re reading reviews right now, trying to find the “right” place. Stop reading. Get in your car. And GO!
Muy buena comida muy bien a tendida
We're in Woodbridge/Occoquan area frequently over many years but overlooked this place until it popped up in an Uber Eats promotion. So glad we tried! We ordered several entrees. The Ceviche Mixto was a lovely tangy combination of seafood served with fresh avocado. The burrito combo (chicken and shredded beef) was delightful with a wonderful cheese and sauce. The fried Mojarra (tilapia) was nicely done, crispy and moist, bringing out great flavor in this rather everyday fish. Carne Asada was nicely marinated, flavorful and tender. Rice and beans were very tasty and tortillas just the right texture. Great synch with delivery service. Ordering was easy, everything was carefully packaged and arrived on time at just the right temperature. We look forward to an in-person visit when things loosen up a bit.
Almitas Restaurant, I had a seafood soup, I normally eat small portions, they gave me a big bowl, and OMG, that soup was so good I finished ALL and called some friends right away.The owner and the waitress was so nice.I give this place 5 starts and I’ll be back with my whole family.Thank you Almita.
