It was overall good service was great. Food was ok.
All around excellent. Phenomenal oysters!! Try the crabmeat sandwich with the cider raspberry rose to accompany it. You will not regret it if you love crab.Modern fishing cabin feel, friendly staff, and very clean. We will deffinatly eat here again.
Crab cakes and salad were really high quality and very fresh. Husband enjoyed his burger as well. Will be coming back!!
People are seemingly saying the same thing over and over again. And I agree with them.Quite possibly the best burger I've had in my entire life.
This place isn’t bad, but I wont go back. Two friends and I stopped in on a roadtrip and ordered some burgers and wings. The wings were solid, but the burgers were, frankly, forgettable. Normally, this would cause me to leave a three-four star review. But, the two stars was earned by my server. When we arrived, we all agreed the atmosphere, whiskey selection, and general vibe was on-point. We even speculated that The Butcher Station could become a regular stop for us, as we head out to Winchester a couple times a year. When greeted by the server, I asked if the Brisket Burger was a burger topped with brisket or brisket in a burger bun. Either would have been fine, but I was curious. The server somewhat aggressively cut me off and said, “It’s a BURGER with BRISKET oN TOP.” Ok, bud, calm down. Then I asked whether it was good. He replied, “Does it sound like it could be bad?” *eyeroll* I replied, “Well, it depends on how good your brisket is… if you put bad brisket on a good burger, it’ll ruin the burger.” He laughed and said, “Well, look at the name, man. We’re The Butcher Station. What do you think?”Sad to say, the burger was overpacked with, I’m guessing, a lean 90/10 meat/fat ratio, and overcooked by two levels (I ordered medium and got well done). The brisket was most likely cooked sous vide, frozen, sliced thin, and lightly charred before being served. Topping off the burger was a sugary BBQ sauce. It was, I would say, 6/10 for total execution. But, here’s the thing: If you’re gonna talk smack about your food and rib your guests - that food better show the heck up. It did not.My recommendation? Turn down the bravado a lot and crank up the quality a little bit.
I really feel the difference eating an unprocessed meal. Though I can't do it often...it's such a treat when I'm able. There's pleasure in supporting small & local businesses. Everything from their homemade ice cream to their local fresh cut beef is served with a smile.
Winchester, VA was our first stop on our annual fall road trip. We make every effort to avoid interstates and chain restaurants, enjoying beautiful backroads scenery and restaurants featuring locally sourced food. We discovered Butcher Station by pure luck as our first choice had recently closed permanently. How fortunate for us! We chose inside dining and were seated immediately. Our server, Christina, was delightful and contributed significantly to our wonderful dining experience. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and not only made great recommendations but happily asked the chef if he would serve my seared scallops over risotto instead of penne pasta which he did without hesitation. The sweet potato risotto was slightly sweet, savory and nutty and turned out to be a tasty complement to the sweet scallops! We shared an appetizer of jalapeño poppers - medium size peppers split, serving as a bed for breaded bacon wrapped cream cheese bites served atop mixed greens. My husband enjoyed a smoked Gouda burger “happy medium “ with bacon jam that he stated was perfect! Finally, we shared a vanilla cheesecake topped with homemade candied orange. The cheese cake was not overly sweet, nor was the homemade whipped cream and was the perfect ending to our great dining experience. Everything we enjoyed was either made or grown on site or locally sourced. Excellent restaurant!I hope we have the opportunity to return!
Ordered the Shepard’s Pie and it didn’t have any flavor. Meat seemed Burt as well. And the dish was to hot to enjoy. Shrimp tacos were a little dissatisfying and the kids shrimp were to “spicy” for our kids. I think the kids grill cheese was the only winner. Atmosphere and staff are pleasant but we never got our Ketchup we asked for when the server did her first check up. And we didn’t see her again until we were ready to leave. We also got in just as they opened for dinner. It was like we got forgotten about.
Not only did they tell me they wouldn't take a to-go order an hour and a half before they closed, but then when they decided they would go ahead and allow me to do a to-go order, they messed it up. My boyfriend was telling me how good their food was so we made two orders of their fish tacos. One order was with fries, the other with coleslaw. When we go our food both orders were with fries, no coleslaw. But to call them fries is being generous. They were petrified potato! I've never been able to snap a fry with two fingers. Trying to eat them was like trying to eat sawdust. The fish tacos weren't good either. The fish was cooked well, but the pickled onions and cabbage on top was so bitter that we couldn't take the fish. And the corn tortilla was so bland that we had to drown our tacos in the very watery sauce that was provided. Needless to say, we will not be going back, especially since this horrible meal cost $40.97!
Nothing but delicious with friendly service
