We ate here in part to take advantage of our "kids eat free" deal through the Woodlands Hotel. We put our names down on the list for dinner on a Tuesday night at 4:45pm. We were seated at about 6pm. We got our food at about 6:35pm. (See note below.) The server was friendly and efficient. My meal was not worth the price we paid. Tuesday night's special is the Christiana Campbell's Crab Cakes, supposedly a favorite of George Washington's when he stayed in Colonial Williamsburg. I am from Maryland and I know how much a pair of good crab cakes should cost, so the $44 price tag didn't phase me too much, but the quality did. For starters, there was no backfin meat in the crab cake at all. Furthermore, there was too much filler and they also had a very strong spice (NOT Old Bay) which detracted from the overall flavor of the crab meat. The rest of the meal was great. The asparagus was cooked perfectly and well seasoned, as was the rice. Dessert was also delicious. I had a cheesecake/spice cake combo that was amazing. The children were pleased with their meals, as was my mother who ordered a salad (the Garden Snipped.) Note - If you are visiting Williamsburg, Va. in the spring of 2022, I highly recommend you go early for your meals or make reservations at least a week in advance. The worker shortage is heavily impacting this area right now and wait times are high everywhere.

Not the same level as it used to be and we hope someone in management takes notice of the details. A good start would be having the fireplace going on a freezing January evening like it always used to be. It's too special of a place to fall by the wayside.

Their is a bar. But also sections to dine in. Prices are reasonable and the staff is wonderful. Food is great as well.

Very limited menu. Did not match their online menu. Server just ok, not very cheerful. Food was excellent however.

Over priced!!I have been 3 times in the past 2 months hoping for the cozy feeling we had 2 years ago. The fireplace used to be going every day in the winter and the lights in sweet Tea and Barley were dim at night so u could relax, now flood lights. What happened?

I was told this was a 4 star restaurant. There were three entrees all of them sandwiches. Service is a little slow and the restaurant it self can not accommodate enough people for the size of the hotel

We were here for the first Grand Illumination weekend. We thought we would have a couple of drinks outside on the patio. Unfortunately, when we asked the hostess if the patio was going to be open with the fire pits and heaters, she said she didn't know. When we asked the bartender, she too was equally unhelpful and unfriendly. We also asked the concierge at The Lodge. She said she didn't know because it was up to the restaurant. We not only felt like we were a nuisance for asking, we felt this was a big miss for such a festive weekend. We come to Williamsburg frequently and have found the friendly service at this restaurant has deteriorated.

Best salad with blueberries and nuts and other goodies! Add the shrimp. Great combination of flavors. Friendly, conscientious staff.

Amazing good. The breaded Fish and Chips is a delight So is the staff.

Tonight's dinner at Sweet Tea & Barley was a triple winner: 1) Great setting outside with a fire pit; 2) great service from Derrick, who was kind/welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable; and 3) great food for both of us! We had The Yardbird, which my wife loved, and the Veggie Bowl, which I LOVED1 The Veggie Bowl included a warm Quinoa Base topped withWarm Tofu, Herbed Chickpeas, Pickled Green Beans, Cucumber Moons, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Avocado, Watercress, Roasted Peanuts, Benne Seeds, and Honey Mustard Vinaigrette. Wow!
