My daughter and I went to Paul’s this evening. We were seated right away. Then we proceeded to sit for 15 minutes while waitresses would pass by but never stop at our table. No wait staff ever even smiled our way let alone ask if we had been waited on, bring water, ask if we were ready to order. Nothing. Finally left after 15 minutes and went elsewhere. Very poor service. Well actually, no service whatsoever.
Went here because the reviews were good. Nice looking place, menu sounded good but that was all we got. We were seated quickly as it was 2:00 in the afternoon and not that busy. 28 minutes later we had still not been approached by anyone. There were wait staff all over the place, one was sitting on a booth 2 down from us rolling silverware in napkins. A manager looking man cleared off a table near us , said not one word as he walked by. The table behind us hollered at a passing server to get their server because they wanted refills. She filled their drinks, asked the table next to them if they needed anything and then ignored us as she walked by. Now I understand if a server is busy or behind but if the rest of the staff that is chatting at the bar and could care less of helping that server out or even just coming by the table and letting us know, that just poor customer service. I have no problem waiting but I do have a problem of being treated like I don't exist. So we left. Thanks for waisting our time.
I've gone to Paul's twice now, and it's such an interesting place. First of all the vibe and the atmosphere is off the charts. It's such an AWESOME place to eat. The service is also fantastic, and the food portions are insane. However the food is not 5 star worthy. At least not the 2 dishes I've had.The 1st time I went to Paul's I had the Chicken Alfredo and it was very good but not great. Again HUUUUGE portion. Then the 2nd time I went to Paul's I had the Filet Mignon Kabob. It came with vegetables, pita bread, rice, and tzatziki sauce. The Pita bread and tzatziki sauce was fantastic. The vegetables were not good at all, and didn't feel very cooked, like the vegetables on a kabob should be. The rice was very average, as well as the meat.
Ive lived in the area all my life. The College Deli and Paul's in downtown Williamsburg are great. This off shoot in Newtown is terrible. My girlfriends burger supposed to be medium rare was a hockey puck. Waitress couldn't even bring her ketchup. Then to beat it all they said we didn't have to pay for the burger but it was on my bill. To get it taken off I had to pay again and they said I would be refunded in three days.Stay away from this placeIt sucks..Not like downtown
First time at the establishment. Absolutely horrible service. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and the waitress took our drink order and took a long while to come back. The tea was very bitter and many tables sending it back for an alternative drink. The waitress finally came back for our appetizer order. Those turned out very good (chili and loaded fries). It took a while to come back for our dinner order in which the waitress didn’t write anything down and got one of our party’s order completely wrong. Instead of customer service, the response we received was that it was going to take 25 mins to fix something else. It was said in a manner like, accept what’s in front of you because it will take us a while to remake it. No thank you, it’s WRONG. No apology or anything. Then a man came to our table and tried to excuse the waitress where my entire party all said that the entree’ was requested in a specific manner. There was no denying that the waitress simply got this portion of the order WRONG. And again, no apology for whom we assume was the restaurant’s manager. Just reemphasizing why the service is so poor with the lack of leadership and training required when mistakes occur.
My family really enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious. The server was really polite and friendly. Her recommendations were spot on.
The food was delicious!! I would definitely get it to go. The atmosphere was chaotic to say the least. The music was turned up so loud we could not hear each other let alone our server. Everyone around us was yelling at their tables to hear each other and our table had to yell to hear the person next to you. Overall It felt like I was in a club and I just wanted dinner
My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. When we entered we were sitting down right away. I saw a bunch of servers so we thought we will be taking care off fast. We sat down for about 5 minutes without any of the servers acknowledging us, I understand that maybe we were no their table to serve but when they saw me looking around for our server, they could have let us know that he/she will be soon with us. Communication is the key of a good customer service and there was none there. I ordered Moussaka, I saw later on the reviews someone saying that it wasn’t good but since it was my first time trying it I found it exquisite and that’s why I’m giving 2 stars. My husband ordered chicken shawarma, it was supposed to be white meat, it had a lot of fat parts and they didn’t even removed the tendon. He also ordered some burnt and uncooked, all mixed up, french fries. He barely ate anything. We didn’t want to complain there since I had the feeling no one would care anyways. As we were leaving, my husband spotted a customer’s table with crispy and perfectly cooked french fries, he felt so disappointed since he was the one of the two of us more willing to give this place a try.
Some context: I'm 23 and I like loud music. We came in thinking it would be a good place to bring my family from out of town so there is 7 of us dining in. Before we even sit down we are having to weave and duck under waiters carrying food. Even at one point leaning into some strangers table to dodge a platter full of food coming through. As we sit down we realize it's remarkably loud and hot like somewhere 75-80 degrees. We asked to be seated outside but were told it was unavailable at the time. Like I said, I'm young and I like loud music, but it was completely overkill. So there I am, eating fettuccini Alfredo shouting over Bruno Mars blasting trying to talk to family also over everyone shouting around us. Our waiter seemed to be struggling. We asked for things like plates and she seemed very stressed by the question and responded with "I'm sorry we are just very busy tonight I'll see if I can get you some". So I leave for the bathroom just to give my ears a break. Well there's speakers there too. All in all, it's a restaurant that can't decide whether it's a nice Italian place or buffalo wild wings. I've seen cleaner bathrooms on construction sites and the place felt extremely over capacity. Both physically and logistically considering our waitress was unable to properly serve us because there were too many customers. But hey! At least the speakers were loud enough for a whole block of people. The reason I give two stars is because the food was incredible. I just wish every other aspect of the experience wasn't so awful.
The atmosphere took me back to the late 80's minus the cigarette smoke. Fresh, delicious flounder and chips; flavorful IPA on tap; and tasty mozzarella sticks hit the spot. Great service from a mature server. The place was sparkling clean too.
