The salsa and white dipping sauce for chips are both tasty and a little spicy. I had the beef fajitas, which were quite good although some pieces of meat were tough/gristly, and my daughter ordered the chicken tenders. Instead of tenders, she got nuggets, which was okay by her although unexpected and we were not told ahead of time about the swap. She loved the battered fries and devoured them first.
I would have given this place 5 stars but our service was not that great. Took way longer than it should have for our drinks and for someone to take our order. After the order was taken food came out quick. Food was very good! Only other concern was that my wife and I both spotted a large fast moving bug running across our booth that looked a little suspicious but was not identified. It resembled something you really don't want in a restaurant but we are not positive. not that any bug in a restaurant is good, but it happens.
I don't want to freely give away 5 stars here, so I'm going to give El Sabor a 4 Star Rating. Really cool atmosphere, smallish restaurant. Service was FANTASTIC. Chips were good, Salsa was very good, the white sauce was underwhelming, and for some reason they gave us very little white sauce, to be fair we went in an hour before closing so they may have been running low. But they would give us like teaspoons of the white sauce lol.My son and I ordered the Steak Ranchero (see picture), my daughter got chicken nuggets lol, and my wife got the Fajita Burrito. My meal was good, but I wouldn't get it again. ***The Beans*** were the best beans I've ever eaten. Seriously, they were SO GOOD. ***My wife said*** her meal was THE BEST Mexican dish she's ever had.***The Prices*** were FANTASTIC........really really affordable dishes.So overall it was a 4 star experience. I just couldn't give them the 5 stars because my dish wasn't that great. So I definitely want to go again, and order something different.But I do recommend El Sabor to anyone in that area of Williamsburg.
Definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to. The service was great, we ordered a few dishes and all tried different each other's - not one of them was bad. Well priced - you can definitely walk in with $20 and feed 2 people generously. The fine in area is a bit small, not really equipped for parties of 10 or more - but it's comfy and well lit because of the huge windows!Will definitely be going back. There's also cute little antique stores right next to it! We walked through all of them afterwards, and I highly recommend checking them out. Lots of great finds, found this crow brand air freshener that I honestly love!
I cannot believe I've lived nearby for 3 years and never heard of El Sabor, which is enormously frustrating! The food is AMAZING--they'll make it as mild or hot--and the staff are gems. I *highly* recommend El Sabor Mexicano for the terrific food, family friendly atmosphere & responsive staff, and the prices are so affordable for a family night out. It's a humble place that isn't "snobby fancy," but it's a regular "get a table and order" vs a cafeteria or buffet scenario. I'm really bummed I'm moving an hour+ away next week. But, PLEASE TRY EL SAVOR: it was an outstanding experience and I'll be shocked if you don't like it.

Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant Ive ever been to. The staff are very friendly, the food is straight up delicious, and at a very reasonable price.Im currently on a mission to try everything on the menu. Not even close to done but Ive said “this is my favorite thing ever” pretty much every time Ive gone.My girlfriend is obsessed with their frozen margaritas.. and Id recommend the flan to you, but I don’t want them to run out by the time I get there.
La comida es exquisita, todo es delicioso y sobre todo la atención que brinda Don Ángel y su gente, definitivamente muy recomendable, en Newport News donde yo vivo hay restaurantes mexicanos pero mi mujer y yo preferimos conducir hasta Williamsburg a éste lugar
First visit.Outstanding.Service was gracious, friendly, and quick.Food was excellent. Authentic. Flavors all came through.Already know what I am ordering on my next visit!
