The restaurant is great, really good food, yummy salads... but the bartender Charles had zero personality! Really surprising, as the place is so friendly and outgoing. Maybe he had a bad day, not sure, but ZERO conversation with us, a group of three...we tried to chat, but it was like he was doing us a favor!
After a little visit to Williamsburg this past December we glanced at Blue Talon Bistro’s menu and added it our list of places we need to dine at! I am so glad we found this gem and that we dined here today! The charcuterie and pate board was amazing. Lovely sauces and meats to accompany all the pickled goodness! Then our waiter was great! Jared helped me from making the wrong choice. I wanted the mushroom pasta but he warned us of a strong cashew taste, so I went with the meatloaf, which was incredible!!! From the potatoes to the veggies, all delicious! Excellent service and a shout out to Jared for being a great waiter!!!
My husband, another couple and I visited over the Memorial Day weekend. Downtown Williamsburg restaurants are mostly closed Mondays so the choices were limited. So glad the Blue Talon was open because they served amazing food. I indulged with a side of mac and cheese which was fabulous. My husband had the meatloaf which was flavorful and moist. My veal was tender and the sauce divine. My friends enjoyed the crepes and german sausage meals very much. The wine selection was good and the Manhattan was excellent. Despite being very short-staffed--they asked us to come back at the reservation time when we arrived early because they literally didn't have the staff to even allow us to sit at the bar, the service was excellent and friendly. I would highly recommend the Blue Talon Bistro.
My husband and I love eating here! We have eaten at this restaurant many times. I love everything I've gotten but I really love the chicken salad!
This location was suggested to us by a friend of a friend who had visited CW. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Jared, our waiter, was prompt, polite and informative. The Cassoulet, which says it has Duck Confit and Escargot, had three Escargot and NO Duck Confit. That wasn't a great start. I had the Steak Diane, while my wife enjoyed the Beef Short Ribs. Nicely presented, well prepared and tasty. We shared a dessert and had some wine with dinner. Very nice ambiance and a comfortable setting. Close to Merchants Square. Can be challenging to park in the area.
The short ribs were excellent, best I ever had. The mashed potato served with them was perfect as well. My wife’s chicken crepes were also beyond belief. The crème brûlée was the only item not exceptional. The service was also exceptional.
This was such an amazing dinner that we came back for breakfast the next morning. Some locals at our B&B recommended it. We had the warm baguette, French onion soup, steak frites, cod, meatloaf and beignets, as well as great cocktails. Breakfast was just as amazing - French toast, omelette, and two eggs/bacon. And mimosas of course! Service was great, the restaurant is charming, and loved The French Chef playing continuously above the bar.
We had a fabulous time here for two nights in April 2022 (we came back again we liked it so much!). Our service was great, food was fantastic, atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Everything from salads to main course to dessert was excellent. Would totally recommend for anyone in Williamsburg.
It had been 7 years since we were in Williamsburg and ate at the Blue Talon Bistro. We vowed to return on our next visit and followed through on that vow. We are so glad we did. My wife ordered their breakfast sandwich, and I ordered their breakfast cassoulet. My wife's breakfast sandwich was 3-4 eggs with cheese on the largest croissant I have ever seen. She said it was delicious, but she could only eat about two-thirds of it. My breakfast cassoulet included braised white beans with pork, duck confit and breakfast sausage, two poached eggs and two toasted baguettes. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the duck confit and breakfast sausage were both absolutely delicious. A bite of beans with duck or sausage and egg would just melt in your mouth. This breakfast cassoulet is definitely a keeper!!! Our server took our order promptly, and we only had a short wait for our food. We will definitely return when in the area again - hopefully sooner than another seven years!
The service was poor, and we had to wait almost 30 mins to get our drinks. Our waitress didn’t check on us at all, and when my dad went to get more coffee he found her looking at her phone. Half the things that came in my omelette weren’t even on the menu. When there was a mess up she blamed it on the server it was actually doing things. Overall bad restaurant and the only thing that I can say is good about it was the floor.
