Service was excellent and so was the food. Everything we had was perfectly prepared and excellent. The local beer was great too.
Amazing meal and atmosphere. Yusuf is an amazing waiter and provided us with great menu suggestions. We didn’t have a reservation and Yusuf hustled to clear a recently vacated table for us. Every employee we encountered was very welcoming. The ham board is a wonderful sample of the hams and biscuits.
This place came recommended by a few people. It exceeded ALL expectations. We dined for a late lunch right as they opened so it was quite. The service was good and the food was some of the best I’ve ever had. Really well done and we almost went back the next day too but the timing didn’t work out. It’s sort of a gastropub feel and felt like it belonged in a big city for the quality of food. The smoked wings were enormous and so tasty. I could eat those every day for the rest of my life. I also had the wild boar and it was excellent but it had a hard time keeping up with the wings.
Absolutely fantastic. Wish we could have stayed longer or things were open later. The server she was wonderful. The staff not so much. Definitely recommend the cheese and ham board. wish they had flights!
The food melt in your mouth delicious, the staff friendly, the atmosphere very welcoming. My husband and I were there on vacation and decided to sample the local eateries. He and I split the Poutine which was a flavor explosion in the mouth, and I enjoyed the Beet and Berry Salad since it was a lighter dish to balance the heavier Poutine. Fantastic! Bright, well balanced, crisp, and hit all of the senses. It will remain on our “must visit” eateries when we return. You cannot beat a well run, farm to table restaurant that also supports local wineries and breweries.
This place was highly recommended. Loved the food and atmosphere. Just wish it didn't take forever but they may be short-staffed.
Great fun and conversation with their great crew. We would love to come back in the future when we're in town again.
Excellent meal with a friendly and very attentive server Yusef. We came in after a ghost tour of Williamsburg, and needed a kid friendly place where my husband and I could get decent food (and beer!). The Amber Ox exceeded our expectations. Menu might have been a bit pricey for a family dinner, but back home in the Philadelphia area would have cost 30% more. Food was beautifully fresh and well-prepared. We will seek out more beers by Precarious as we enjoyed the hazy IPA so much we bought some to bring home. Best of all: kid menu and activities including take home wiki sticks! Rarely does a kid friendly place have such elevated food.
I visited Amber Ox with friends...my first time there. It is larger than I expected with a nice ambience. I had a burger, which was very large--I took half of it home. I did find their menu a little on the expensive side, but certainly had something for everyone. My burger was good, and the waitress was attentive and pleasant. I like some of the other restaurants in the area a little better, but this restaurant is certainly an option and one you should try.
Great dining experience with friends. We called ahead and were able to seat us at 530pm. Food selections were interesting and presented nicely. We shared pimento dip which was delicious and the biscuit board which is a must. Entree choices: Delmonico steak reported as delicious, fried chicken reported as delicious and rock fish which was delicious. Drinks were interesting with syrups and infusions made on site. Desserts were great too. We shared chocolate dessert, cheesecake and donuts. Wait staff were wonderful, engaging and helpful. We would return.
