Locals referred us to Waterman's as the best restaurant in town. With no reservation, it was a 40-minute wait to seat just the two of us - so fair and expected if not ideal. The menu selections were wonderful. The crab cakes were quite good but not the best I've had (pardon my crab cake snobbery here). Ditto for my wife's fried shrimp. The hushpuppies were excellent. If we return to Virginia Beach, this Waterman's restaurant is on our must-do list. Not simply *would* eat here again; *must* eat here again. Definitely plan for valet parking, and tip them well. As Disney resorts learned decades ago, the customer's first and last impression is the parking. Fortunately, those three valets were amazing. They were all jumping and running to please us. Smiling and friendly too. We instantly felt welcomed like VIPs. Their valet service gave an immediate impression that Waterman's must be a top-notch fine dining establishment.
So disappointment I am visiting Virginia and have visited several restaurants in the area for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately this is the worst, I do not recommend it, this is the area's KFC with an exquisite stamp. the smell of the place is horrible and it is understood that it is seafood but it smells like a broken fish tank. the french fries worse than mc donalds, the coconut shrimp wrapp was pure cabbage, the crab cakes did not feel fresh, the amount of ice in the drinks is ridiculous, not even being slushie, no flavor, ordinary and simple, a total disappointment.
The service was excellent, and we went in to the pub area, which is first come, first serve. Courtney was on the ball, and a very sweet server. I had spicy Buffalo tuna bites, that were so tender, and delicious, with a side salad. Generous portion of tuna. It was an appetizer, but plenty. I was full. My husband had the Mediterranean seafood pasta and really enjoyed it! I would definitely recommend dining here. Great food!
Had a great shrimp dinner with a delicious orange crush drink. Husband had seafood platter and his was great too. Sat outdoors and great view of the ocean. Quick and friendly service.
I love Waterman's and go each time I'm in Virginia Beach. U have yet to have a problem with my food. The servers are nice and friendly
Amazing food and great service! I had the bronzed tuna which was delicious. My husband had the fried seafood platter and it was spot on! Their crab cakes are some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Our boys had the fish of the day and fried shrimp…both very tasty. We will definitely be back next time we visit VB
My husband and I have eaten here a couple times for lunch--an orange crush, peel-your-own shrimp and a Waterman's salad. It doesn't get much better. We decided to try it for dinner, but didn't enjoy it as much. First of all, the ambiance on the deck is much more fun than the dining room--it's dark and dated. I had the deep-fried shrimp, which was every good. My husband had the Just Seafood platter, with crab, shrimp and scallops. Things were fresh in that, but lacked seasoning. The best part of the meal, however was dessert. The Orange Crush ice cream sandwiches are to die for--do not miss. Service was fine, not excellent.
This place is consistently good! My husband and I visited for dinner on a Sunday. We were first seated at a booth inside but the booth was a little too tight for comfort. We moved to a c-shaped booth out on the covered/heated patio, which was nice! We had a pretty view. Our waiter was very attentive. Drinks were good - the cocktail menu offers lots to choose from. I love crushes so I tried 2 different ones! The crab soup and hush puppies were both tasty! I had a broiled seafood entree and my husband had steak. They both came with "chef's potato" and veggie. The potato was mashed potatoes, which is okay but wouldn't be my first choice. The veggies were steamed mixed veggies, which was fine! I also got a slice of key lime pie to go. I really enjoyed it. I think to make it "perfect" a choice of sides would have been good, and maybe some bread at the table. But, we enjoyed everything and I will plan to stop in again next time we are in VA beach.
Great food and excellent staff. It was busy but still maintained a great atmosphere the night I visited.
Easy menu, great service, clean, warm establishment! Great view of the ocean, warm patio seating on a cold winter evening!
