Outstanding! Definitely worth a visit when in Virginia Beach. So much of the strip at Virginia Beach seems super commercial. However, this place has an authentic feel of a local beach restaurant. The bartender was excellent and friendly. The atmosphere is exactly what a beach restaurant should feel like. Great location, excellent food, and while it is not cheap, it is very affordable.
Delicious food! Very crowded! Only open Thursday through Sunday 5pm. Off the beaten path. Looks like a house. Totally worth it.
I really wanted to give this place a 5 star review, but after my mom and husband got the ‘flounder in a bag’ and the shrimp was raw the first time and the second time when they remade it, I couldn’t leave that good review. Our waitress was so nice, but the rest of night I couldn’t help but think the two of them were going to be sick. My scallops were great. It was very pricey though
I ate here on a Thursdsay evening. I parked across the street - don't bother - as the restaurant has parking. I was seated near the bar shortly after arriving. I ate She Crab soup and steamed oysters for an appetizer. I moved the crabcakes for the main course All the food was served promptly, and hot. The service was exceptional. The atmosphere was great - small town and very laid back, You can't go wrong here!
Good food. Recommend call in for reservations. Busy place, great wait staff. She crab soups little salty this time around. Scallop , clam appetizer was overpriced. $15 for two scallops and two clams is not right.
As a patron of this restaurant for many years, I was shocked to walk in and be advised that reservations were needed. The website indicated that limited reservations were being accepted but did not advise that we would be turned away. The young lady advised that this was Covid protocol and offered no other options. We were a party of 2 trying to get seated at 8pm. Hard to believe that a table for 2 could not be found when there were empty tables in the front. Unhappy customer of 15 years.
My favorite restaurant in Virginia Beach! They have the BEST she crab soup I’ve ever had and I’ve been to a ton of places to get this soup. It’s creamy and has chunks of crab meat which you can’t find everywhere. They also have amazing crab dip. Everything they have on the menu is fantastic! I recommend it to anyone who comes here. You won’t regret it!!
Incredible food, incredible service! I can’t say this enough; these people understand service! We will absolutely be back.
Out and about along the oceanfront, and pretty hungry, ended up heading into Tautogs for yet another fantastic meal. Sat at the bar, was greeted warmly by staff. My pick off the menu is an old favorite, the catfish po-boy. Everything in the establishment is mostly the same as I remember, which gives the place sort of a nostalgic feeling. Undoubtedly will be back to visit again in the future.
I do not eat seafood personally, but the rest of my family loves it. Every time we visit Virginia Beach we have to stop at this restaurant. The food is always phenomenal, the atmosphere is amazing, and we always have a great time. And there's always a few items on the menu for this non-seafood lover to enjoy.
