Over the years I was a loyal customer and would have rated their pizza 4 to five stars. It seems that for some reason their pizza is now horrible. There really is something off with the flavor of the sauce, this cheese is now salty, and the pizza is doughy. It has made both my wife and I sick now on three occasions. I understanding having a bad night, but this does not hold true anymore. I know, blame it on Covid and to some extent this may be true. Maybe the previous ingredients used got overpriced. I am a New Yorker, and my wife is 100% Italian so we know what good or decent pizza should be. This place is not it. They have lost my business and referral forever. There is no coming back. While I can not say for sure, but I think that leaving sauces out and improper store along with cleanliness may also be another reason the food has gone down. Go at your own risk.

Ordered sub,bowl of pasta n another meal n it was 54.00 . Came with smallest salad I ever seen. Sub was foot long n it was a bread n lettuce sub. More meat on a subway sub for 6.00-7.00 n I paid 11.00 for a bread n lettuce meal. I would not order a sub there again. Whole order over priced n small portions.
Always good food, however don’t order over the phone! When we called to order over the phone the directory indicated we use option 1 which was to order over the phone through GrubHub. Long story short, the person who took my order repeated it correctly but placed the order wrong so we didn’t get what we asked for. Neither the restaurant nor GrubHub offered help, just gave the run around.
First time eating here and let me say it was awesome and the price was reasonable I will return

Absolutely disgusting. I ordered a thin crust and the crust was not thin and it was undercooked. Doughy mess. Don’t waste your money. I called to give them a chance to correct and they said it would be another hour plus if I wanted a refund I had to leave it by my door so someone could collect it lol. Yes let me stink up the building for the other residents. What an absolute joke. Thankfully I ordered through slice who issued me a refund immediately. See pictures for floppy garbage and raw cheese.
We have ordered from Sal's Pizza for many, many years. I always said it is Five Star on their food. We love the 2 Stromboli's Special which is 2 Stromboli's, French Fries, one 2 liter Soda. We moved to Chesapeake and still drive to Sal's in Virginia Beach some 25 miles away. Today we ordered the Stromboli Special to go. After getting our food home we noticed that the serving of Fries we used to get with this order was cut in half. Just a child's small hand full of Fries. Now the Strombolis, This was a huge disappointment to us. It was mostly mozzarella cheese and hardly any toppings. I got about 4 or 5 pieces of pepperoni a few pieces of green pepper and onion. My wife's Stromboli was the same. This place has sure cut down on the ingredients and raised the prices on the orders. Before when we ordered the Stromboli's they were loaded with toppings. NOT ANY MORE. They hardly put toppings in them now. We may try this place one more time, I think. If it's like it was today we will take this place off our list for ordering food and hopefully find a better place in the area. Very Disappointed.
