this place is just beside a marina... we got there and it was packed... you have a choice of indoor dining in the main restaurant or outside dining beside the marina... we opted for the outside dining... i read somewhere to request for sunset dining but learned that it didn't matter as you're not going to get a view of the sun setting on the ocean which i was expecting... you won't get that as the place is blocked by trees and houses... no sea or ocean in sight... okay let's start with the drinks as that's what usually the server asks first... when the menu says you are only limited by 2 of an item you get curious... so the wife ordered and man they were not kidding... she was alcohol induced blushing in a just a few... so i ordered the same as my 2nd drink... hahaha... the calamari is good... just normal regular calamari... maybe softer than what we've had so far in virginia beach... the shooting point oysters were probably the best oysters we've tasted anywhere... very sweet and briny... every slurp was just a treat... goes real well with the drinks... the only knock in this experience was the day's fresh catch... for the price i thought we were getting a whole fish or at least a significant portion bit instead we got like a fourth of a fish... it was not worth the money nor the $7 asparagus sides... i'll still give them 5 stars because of the other things i mentioned... we left still feeling good about the experience and the place... just don't order the fresh catch if you're price conscious and you'll have a perfect dining experience... cheers!
My husband and I ordered crab cake sandwiches without the buns so we didn't fill up on useless calories. We ordered one fried and the other boiled. Should have ordered both broiled. The sweet potato fries were the best I have ever eaten. It was too breezy for my husband outside, so we moved inside. The swing-set tables are difficult for people with mobility issues to get in and out of. Out waitress was not attentive. She started out fine but then completely neglected us; I had to track her down to get drink refills and waited along time before we were brought the check. She didn't apologize nor act appreciative of our business.
Came on a Tuesday around 5p - calm atmosphere and quick service. We got the She crab soup which was very thick but good.My partner got the sandbridge seafood pasta which was overly sauced but tasted okay. I got the crab cake dinner with their vegetable medley and fries. Sadly the fries were the best part. The vegis were one of those frozen bags which was cooked well but over salted. The crab cakes were flavorless and sadly the worst I have had in 3 days of eating crab cakes. They were only seasoned on the outside and tasted like they were made from store bought containers of crab rather than fresh. Very little filler but no flavor. Our waitress was kind but the food was lack luster and pricey. Won’t be going back for seconds.
Not convinced this was a good choice based on reviews/ratings. Hubby had eaten here a long time ago. First time for me and I was impressed!! Molly was a patient waitress while we took a while making decisions and asking questions. The Oscar Benedict was out of this world! All of the flavors blended so well together. Sipped on 2 Marina Mimosas which were yummy! We had fried scallops as an app and they were tasty too! Will definitely return!! Enjoy folks!
I ordered steamed shrimp, and I tried a few. The few I tried tasted good;however, I then noticed that the shrimp were not deveined. This took away my appetite, and I didn't want to eat the rest of the shrimp. I learned that they do not devein the shrimp at Rudee's. Then, I tasted the crab cake sandwich I ordered and the crab cake was very dry. The waiter was very nice and understanding and tried to go out of his way to make things right. He took back the shrimp and crab cake sandwich and removed those items from my bill. Then I ordered broiled scallops and they tasted like parsley and were very bland. The best part of the meal was the fries and Cole slaw. At that point, I was very frustrated. I felt like sending those scallops back also, but did not since I had already sent two items back. My wife's meal was good but mine was horrible. Including tip, I spent over $82 for a terrible meal. That's what I get for not going to Waterman's. Don't waste your time going here. Go to a place like Waterman's instead.
We came here for dinner with friends. We haven't been here for a number of years but it didn't disappoint. The food was wonderful, service was great. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very attentive and accommodating. We always make it a priority to eat here when we're in town.
We arrived yesterday for lunch and asked for a table for 3 outdoors. We indicated to the hostest that we were having a meal but a 4th would be joining later just for a drink. At that time, she refused to seat us until the other person arrrived. Tables were not full at all. She said we were free to sit at the bar but tables had to be reserved with full parties. Again, I explained that we were a party of 3 who would be ordering food and drinks with another to join much later. She was beyond rude. When questioned again, she said fine, walked us to a table and tossed the menus on the table. I was appalled at the behavior. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter, and was extremely delightful and helpful. The food was really good and hot. Crab balls were good and the lobster roll contained a good amount of lobster. However, the cocktails were watered down. Not sure I will go back on my next visit to VA Beach.
Rudees is a must stop for us when we visit Virginia Beach. They have inside and outside dining by the water. A very nice menu. Delicious food And the service and friendliness of the wait staff was the best
Saw this advertised as a top place to eat on the Inlet, although the view is not great the food was terrific, and the staff was very pleasant and made great recommendations
Family dinner outside in gliding booth. Mostly seafood choices. The seafood tortellini was delicious and massive. The crabcakes were meaty and crab special was a bowl of steamed crabmeat. Vegetables were overcooked and potatoes were unseasoned. Drinks were good but expensive. Overall good dinner.
