Price of oxtails have gone up everywhere, so I’m not surprised they were $23.99! But if I’m craving them, ima get em. Been back in VA for a week and came across this place. Was not disappointed at all! Great flavor. Great portion size. Overall a great meal. Ordered through door dash, but plan on going inside within the next few weeks to try other items ☺️☺️
What a great time it is at Montego Island Grill! From the music to the delicious food you're bound to come back for more. Not to mention the happy hour is the best in the town! The bartender, Danielle is very knowledgeable about the different drinks and keeps the them coming! You have to try the rasta pasta ?
We found this place was a short distance from my husband’s job. We decided to dine in. We both ordered the oxtails dinners. The food was delightfully delicious, the meat was very tender and the rice was amazing. Now to me the greens and cabbage had sugar in them; something my husband and I both weren’t use to, but enjoyed them anyway. As we were leaving; we bought 2 of the to- go alcohol drinks and 2 cakes! They were amazing as well.
The establishment was clean and the customer service was good. However, this was the nastiest carribean food I have ever tasted. All you could taste was garlic. The cabbage was too salty. This food has to be left over from yesterday. My husband's chicken was so hard. 2 lunch specials and drinks definitely were not worth $25.
First time here and the food was excellent. We ordered curry chicken with rice and peas along with jerk chicken with cabbage and plantains. The cabbage was flavorful and the plantains were moist and cooked to perfection. The curry chicken was delicious and the gravy hit the spot. If we come back to the area, we definitely visit again. The bonus was the entertaining music
I had such an amazing experience! The staff were very welcoming, and the food was delicious. A very clean environment with great music. Will definitely be returning!
STOP this is not the Montegos we all know from all know from Newtown ROAD. It’s not even prepared by the same hands. My steam cabbage was mixed with collards that are not fully cooked. Too salty!! My Mac and cheese is bland and some of the cheese is hard. I’m tasting pumpkin? The shrimp, too much salt. It’s as if this young inexperience Caucasian chef has no experience in cooking Caribbean food. Yes, white man serving us Caribbean food in real life, I’m not joking. Never again honey.
Danielle was helpful and attentive. Food is authentic and delicious. Will go again for sure.
I hate to leave a negative review however I really need the owner/chef to see this and consider this constructive feedback. I ordered escovitch whiting with rice and peas and Mac and cheese. Everything was disgusting. Nothing taste authentic. I frequent Caribbean restaurants multiple times per week and this has been my worse experience. The fish was not fresh. The rice and peas taste burned , no flavor only a burnt taste. The Mac and cheese was straight box Mac and cheese no flavor whatsoever. The vegetables and escovitch sauce was overly salty and spicy. I didn’t mind the spice but it was way too much salt. My meal was ruined and I would have returned it but they were closed. I had to throw it away! Thoroughly Disappointed!
I love their food. The full restaurant indoor seating isn't open, but they have tables you can eat at. I love the Stewed chicken and jerked chicken. The seasoning on their sides is spot on! Compared to the food we ate in Kings Bay Jamaica it was right in. Staff is friendly and welcoming.
