I had a Malbon Brothers BBQ pig roast 15 years ago and just used their services again for my son's Graduation from Medical school. They were even better than the first time we had a pig roast done by them. They were prompt and prepared! The pig was delectable! Brant was the best! He made sure my son and I got food, he checked with all of our guests to make sure everything was up to par, he bussed tables. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. If you are looking for a pig roast they are the ones!
Family BBQ stop, automatic and self car washes, air, vacuums, plenty of goodies inside with awesome cooks and excellent fresh food made to order it grab some already packaged up BBQ and sides.
I visit Malbon frequently. I purchase gas, items from the store, and use the car wash. The staff is always courteous. But, the Maldon store needs a remake, remodel, and rebrand. A pig face storefront and barbecue will not drive people to your door. The Maldon store reminds me of the way the 7 Eleven stores looked before the arrival of Wawa. Wawa's arrival in the 757 changed the convenience store landscape. I will drive out of my way for a Wawa coffee and their food is worth the stop. What is the Malbon store's hook? Not sure. I do know that being a one-of-a-kind store makes Malbon's survival difficult. Even if you put lipstick on the pig, it may not save her.
Tried the pulled pork sandwich, the pulled pork platter, and sides of cole slaw, hush puppies, and Mac and cheese. First, the serving sizes are modest. I got the largest size sand wand it was what you’d expect for a regular sandwich anywhere. The platter had even less pulled pork, served in a small container. The taste of the pulled pork is ok, but the texture is mooshy…very odd. The hush puppies were burnt on outside and near raw on inside. Overall a disappointment.
I still love this place for BBQ and gas however, I really think they should just shut down their drive thru carwashes. I could have used a paper towel and a bottle of water and cleaned my car better. Very disappointed for a $14 carwash.
Stopped for gas & a car wash after a long drive back from Buffalo NY for thanksgiving... Malbon Brother's offers a free piglet sandwich with a car wash purchase and thought this would be great as we unpack from our trip.... went inside to get the sandwich and there were no servers tending the eating area... other customers also waiting... I went to get the cashier who walked back to the kitchen and the 2 young gentlemen in that area were hiding behind the door chatting on their phones. Needless to say I spent an additional 15 mins in the store attempting to get my sandwich. The BBQ was great the service was very bad :( Then when I went through the car wash one swipe and it was done... I used to think and recommend Malbon Brother's to so many friends and visitors who come to Virginia Beach although after my experience tonight I believe that will change. Very disappointed:(

Clean environment, lots of options available like a .20 off gas discount when filling up and getting a car wash!Also, you can grab lunch or dinner with the BAR BBQ choices ?. Plus, your typical stop and shop as well.Local family owned business that's helpful to the locals, too.
The manager likes to harass disabled customers for parking in the marked disabled parking spaces. They feel that you must look disabled in order to use these spaces. My disability placard is clearly visible in my windshield however twice now I have been told I could not park in that space. I will not be coming back.
Best barbecue in the area. The Malbons are a multi-generational family, know for their pig farms and barbecue. They've been in business in Virginia Beach since I was a child. They are known for their good barbecue. Their gas station/diner is super tiny, old school, and has a good size menu of southern comfort foods. One of the few places where you can get a Taylor's Pork Roll sandwich.They're not fancy but it's the next best thing to home cookin'! You can't miss this spot...just look for the giant pig!
