Great place with reasonable prices and delicious food which deserves the 3 stars, my only critique is the waitress. My husband and I have been here a handful of times and the wait staff has been really mediocre to the point of neglectful. I watched time and again the waitress not visiting our table, not fulfilling requests like a glass for a canned beer, and just a rude attitude. If it were only a single experience or even twice I'd look it over but this has happened continuously which is disappointing. We're at the point of looking for other restaurants like this bc the wait staff just doesn't seem to care.
Alrhough the staff was polite but distant,the atmosphere of the establishment was not friendly, warm, or welcoming. The item that I ordered was not good. My son and I both were displeased with our food selection. One of the items ordered was not what we thought it would be. We decided that this would be our first and last visit.
Went on 5/30 for dine in. To start, there was a guy in the mens bathroom enjoying himself which was beyond disbelief. We’re literally in public not your home. Don’t know if it was an employee or customer. We ordered a sweet tea, water, and a margarita. It came out, we were waiting on our food and my cousin thought there was a fly in the margarita. Well it wasn’t. We saw 2 black things in the drink. We got it out with the straw and it was a ROACH that was halfway mushed. Beyond disgusting. Told the waitress to cancel our food and that we were leaving.
Went here for my 18th birthday a few days ago with a party of around 15 other people. The service was great, as alcohol and food came out extremely fast, and the servers were extremely generous to us. Especially, Hector, a waiter that stood out to us as he made sure everything went smoothly and everyone got their dishes correct. The food was hot, tasty, and met all prior expectations and surpassed others. My family and I had a great time for my birthday here and it only added to my reasoning on why I believe Gran Rodeo is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Hampton Roads area.
I got the trashcan nachos. Very good amount of food and it tasted really good too. Had to take some home. We had a nice server.\\nMy only negative would be that I found it too loud, both the music and other patrons, but I'm autistic my bf found it loud but not unbearable.
Food and price were decent. Restaurant was kind of dirty and the person who served our food was very rude. Waitress was nice, but we didn't appreciate the person who served our food. Nothing memorable about this location.
Love this place. Great friendly service. They are fast. Good is always delicious and margaritas strong the way I like! Trash can nachos are on point ! My favorite Mexican place in Hampton roads. Nowhere else compares!
They food is a good value and portions are large. Like many Mexican style restaurants, the service is attentive and fast. Most of the seating is large booths which can easily accommodate larger families. My wife says the margarita flight is amazing. I prefer the organic golden margarita.
Very good Mexican food! We are from San Diego and had trouble finding Mexican food in Chesapeake or Virginia Beach that compared. Gran Rodeo didn’t let us down!
Went on 12/28, will be the last time I go back. Been going there with family for over a year almost every Tuesday, majority of the time it's been pretty decent with hit or miss service, but this was awful. Personally had to go over and grab hot sauce and salt for the chips and tacos. We had to call our waiter over 3 times, and we had a simple 2 taco to go order after we were done and we waited at our table for 30 minutes with no follow up or anything. Finally had to throw my hands up in there air and another individual brought it over and didn't say a word. Do not recommend going here for the awful service and rude wait staff.
