The food and service were excellent! Prices were just a little bit high compared to some other Chinese restaurants, but overall the meal was a good value, as most of us had more than we could eat, and so we had food to take home with us! Their sesame chicken and their plum wine was some of the best that I've ever tasted! We intend to return here as one of our frequent Saturday night gathering places!

The fried rice… not fried, Szechuan chicken not fried, more like Hunan chicken. Fortune cookies GREAT! Only four dumplings in an order and meat was very dry. The crazy roll (RAW), very small, too much sauce and pricey for what is served. BBQ Chicken bun filled with more sauce than meat. 30-45 minute delivery window actually 1hr 15minutes. Lo Mein, pork, okay. Overall, overpriced not good food. Two thumbs down.

The food since Connie left is subpar. It’s very expensive. Sometimes the food is really delicious, and sometimes the food is intolerable. Really inconsistent. Tonight I went to pick up a to go order and all of the juice and sauce from my order was in the bottom of my plastic bag. It was all over the seat of my car. And when I called all they said was sorry your food spilled. My food did not smell the container wasn’t sealed properly. I wasn’t offered another dish. I wasn’t offered an apology other than they were sorry it’s spilled. I think this is my last trip to Forbidden Palace. For those prices I can get way better service somewhere else. I’m used to Forbidden City’s quality. And since Forbidden Palace came along I’ve been nothing but disappointed. The food is overcooked. The chicken is dry. It just isn’t what it used to be. It’s just another high priced low quality Chinese restaurant.

We understand you are short staffed -we saw your sign saying if we don’t have patience fill out an application (that was off putting)- but to be rude to the guests who are trying to support your business is a sure way to ensure we don’t come back. My husband and I walked in to a fairly empty restaurant. We stood by the hostess stand for about 7 minutes and watched the bartender look at us, two waitresses look at us and the owner/ sushi chef. Finally the sushi chef waived us to the booths in a gesture to say sit down. After 5 more minutes of being totally ignored I flagged a waitress down to ask for a menu. She finally put two down. Another 5 minutes of being ignored once again, sitting right in front of the bar area… now three waitresses around without one single acknowledgement to us we got up and slowly walked towards door. Nobody tried to stop us. Nobody said anything. You literally just watched business and money (good money, we order great and take care of restaurants !) walk out the door. Your food is good. But to be blatantly ignored is crazy, especially in these days. This was beyond short staffed. This was simply us being unwanted.

Unfortunately the pandemic and inflation has impacted the quality and quantity. We ordered $85 worth of takeout and only got 3 fortune cookies for four dishes and multiple appetizers.Multiple dishes tasted the same regardless of what they should have been.Quality has changed. New employees? Chef?We got plenty of soy sauce packets and mustard though. *joy to 2022*

Our meal was yummy! We moved to the VA Beach area last year from Northern VA where we enjoyed some great Chinese restaurants. However once getting here, we have tried several different Chinese places and none of them seemed as good or close to quality of what we got back home. That is until we went here! The chicken was crispy and delicious, it was sesame chicken, although to me it tasted more like a better version of panda express’s orange chicken. I was happy to find the house fried rice was delicious and up to what I’ve been used to. It was moist, flavorful, and had generous amount of meat within. It came as one giant mountain of rice! Lots of other places around here rice just hasn't been up to part. The meat was moist and delicious. We also ordered hot and sour soup and egg drop soup of which had large price difference. Soup was good, but cost May not be worth to get. U should take advantage of their happy hours 4-7 pm everyday where they have discounts of several dollars off different appetizers.

I go back and forth! Two bad experiences out of 3 now…deleted a 1 star, added a 5 star, deleted thatNow back to 1 starSat at bar, two other guests that sat after me got orders and drinks ordered, never even got looked atFinally walked out

To Go OrderNot what I expected to be. I expected a much better experience.Quality was average and portions aresmall for the big price.

Great time! Food was very savory and made to order. Loved the atmosphere and the attentiveness of or waitress Tiffany.

Ordered 3 appetizers &1 fried rice to go. Waited 1hour and 40 mins. Food tasted excellent but way too long of a wait. Staff was kind and friendly. Order when you aren't hungry because by the time you get your order you WILL definitely be hungry.
