Horrible experience, my family and I where craving Puerto Rican food . So we decided to stop at this restaurant after seen the good reviews and this place was highly recommended we drove 2 hours to get to this place. Can't say much about the food because we didn't even get to eat. The outside looked very nice, but as soon as we walked in the young guy behind the bar ignore us, waited 10 minutes or so to get seated "the restaurant only had 2 tables eating in at the moment" not big deal to us. When he approached us I said "hello" he didn't answer, he sat us threw the menus on the table and walked away, I said "thank you " no replied of course. The table next to us was complaining about the wait for the check. The lady had to get up twice to ask for the bill. When he finally came back to take our order, after waiting 15 minutes while he sat in the corner playing on his phone, I asked what kind of juices they had. He replied "we have a lot in the fridge". I explained to him we were not from the area he said " it's in the fridge". Then I asked if someone else knew the menu and could explain it better to which he replied "I'm the only one here" with a dismissive tone. I then asked for the manager and he said "again, I'm the only one here". That's when my husband said we should just leave as his attitude had already ruined our mood to eat. As we got up to leave, the server stormed off and mumbled "shut the f*** up" under his breath. Worst service experience I have ever had in any place in my life!
Three stars because I paid 45.72 for two dishes and 2 pastelillos. Tge first dish was pernil with arroz con gandules. ( Mid) Second dish white rice, beans and porkchop. (Horrible and smelled like feet no exaggeration) my kid was ready to eat we opened up the food and the smell was strong. We looked at each other, sniffed til we reached the porkchop. Broke it open and sure enough. Trashed it. I felt so bad for this kid of mine. The pastelillos were good that was the appetizer and dinner. Everything else to the garbage. So sad. This is not someplace I recommend unless you eat your order inside the establishment and can have them serve it fresh. Mine was to go. Do better, you charge like you're going to give fresh food.
The price on the cuban sandwich is actually $13.50 and not $11 as advertised on their website. The woman acted as if she didnt speak english when I asked about the price hike. She spoke english very clear while taking my order tho. Her menu also said the sandwich was $11 so they really did scam me out my money! The sandwich was $13.50 the drink was $3= $16.50 +tax how I paid $18.60 on my card the world will never know because the math is not adding up!
Papa rellano was awesome! We also had the empanadas which were amazing. They were very busy so service was a little slow but was to be expected on a holiday weekend. Will definitely be going back!
Ordered a Togo order. Had to go back after getting home because they forgot items in my order, then was told the $24 Mofongo didn’t come with a side after it was listed under “dinners”. “Dinners come with a side. You can substitute mofongo for side for $2 more”. She was trying to tell me that my mofongo was a side to my shrimp. The language barrier was too much to even argue anymore. Was also charged $10 for a virgin pina colada (which is the price for an alcoholic one)Why is it so hard to find a good puerto Rican restaurant in Hampton roads? No wonder why Mexican restaurants are so popular. It’s sad.
If you want authentic Puerto Rico in your stomach try this restaurant. If you want to have your eyes wandering everywhere that you see very pretty waitress your wife will never let you come back.
Hubby and I have been missing abuela's cooking, so have this place a try. We basically purchased one of everything, felt like.Empanadas, maduros, Pollo guisado, relleno de papa, bistec... oh and flan!Great food. Would definitely come back
This place is your go to for Monfongo, Pastles, and Alcapurrias, y Chuletas Fritas. ?. Great staff and great food. This hidden ? is tucked in the back corner of the shopping mall strip. Check them out today and thank me later. Karaoke ? on the weekend BTW.
I had the Rincon Special! The steak was sooo tender. And the special sauce went perfectly with the dish! I can't wait to go back!
Clean inviting environment. Food was good. Friendly staff. My alcohol beverage (coconut rum/pineapple juice) lacked rum however it was my 1st visit and won't hold that against them. Definitely returning but with ordering a different drink ??☺️
