While traveling stopped in to grab a late lunch. Has only take out now. Loved it so much, returned the next day. First day my co-worker and I both got the 3 sides meal. Both days I got the collards and mac and chez. I got chana on day 1, loved it. Got the chow mein day two, not a fan. Owned by a female military vet. Super friendly staff. Food prep was quick. Decent portions for the price. Glad they are open on a Monday! We sat outside in the heat our first day. Second day I saw folks sitting outside and before the left they came in to gush about how much they loved the food. Would eat here all the time if I lived nearby.
This was my FIRST TIME trying Jackfruit. I wasn't disappointed. However, I [mistake] added the cole slaw which detracted from the sandwich. IF it had been good, the issue that there was SO little put on there would have been a problem. But the cole slaw had chunks of raw cabbage and was a bit dry/underseasoned. ? So having 'virtually none' was a blessing. The plantains were hittin'...I would have been happy with a container of those! A bit pricey too. Overall, I wasn't wowed but not completely disappointed. I'll try a couple other items and see how I feel. ?
Desmond's Island Soul Grill deserves the hype. They really put their soul into the food. I've watched them walk food out for their customers who have disabilities or with small children. They are extremely helpful and polite. The food is flat out amazing. This is coming from a person who primarily eats meat. They really changed my opinion on vegan food. Also don't get me started on the banana pudding. Good God! If you haven't been and you're just reading reviews, take my word, you Will Not Be Disappointed. I recommend the Rasta Pasta, large portions full of flavor. I repeat you will not be disappointed
Good little vegan spot, although they have meat as well. The sandwich I got was ok, heard they have some really good stuff though and it came on high recommendation so I'm gonna go back and get some more another time.Edit: apparently they don't have meat anymore, could have fooled me, what they served seemed like meat was on the sandwich, means they are even better, upped the rating to 5/5
I’ve been coming here for years. Black owned which is a plus. Authentic and good on portions. They don’t miss. Vegan food taste like the original. If you think any different it’s just in your mind. Mac & cheese goes hard. Empanadas goes hard too. COOKIES ARE SO GOOD.
Extremely good food. When I go to a vegan restaurant with other people, I'm usually the only vegan in the party but everyone still loves the food. Thank you for proving that you don't need animal products to make amazing food!
Amazing food, every time! My partner is not even vegan but asks for the BBQ jackfruit sandwich all the time now. And their greens are the BEST greens I've ever had. The people are always very kind and friendly. 5/5 stars for sure.
OMG ? This was the BEST FOOD I’ve had in a very very long time! I’ve been “vegan” for the last 9yrs and vegetarian since I was 15. I love to cook and most of the time I’d prefer to eat at home, but when I’m traveling eating out is required. Every single item I ordered was Delicious! The wait was long (49 minutes) so if you’re hungry order before you’re ready to eat. But the wait was so worth it and I’d do it again and again. I ordered the Mac Cheese, Plantain, Popcorn Mushrooms, Krabcake Sandwich, Peas & Rice, and Lentil Empandas, the Arepas. Yes I ordered all that and ate all of it (in a few days) The Mac was seasoned so yummy with just a hint of spice, and creamy but not gooey. Definitely going to recreate that at home. The Empanda was thick and flaky with a yummy mix of potatoes. The mushrooms were so so good! They were thick, but still chewy not greasy. The peas and rice tasted like it had a hint of airy freshness definitely had a hint of lime and cilantro. Look go now! I had no idea what a Arepas was but I do now and it’s fabulous! It reminds you or a sandwich made with yuca as the bread. It was maybe 3 types of beans, onions, and guacamole. Order everything, and enjoy it! Bravo to this place! I’d literally take the hour and 45 minute drive just to eat there again. I just left the islands in September and didn’t have any food as good. YUMMY ?
The food tastes even better than it smells. We had the krabcake, jackfruit, and lentil burger, and while the jackfruit was a little tart for me, the flavors were all unbelievable. Probably the best lentil burger I've ever had.
The smell in this place is Amazing! First time here and I’m so excited to get my food. I ordered the krabcake sandwich and mango salsa chik’n wrap. Got fries and plantains also. Yum yum and yum
