Ezma’s Bread Box Cafe is hands down the best cafe in all of VA beach. Her rustic menu and homemade recipes are truly inspired and personal. They also have some exciting wine selections you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in VA.\\n\\nBread Box Cafe is a MUST.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the decor was cute. The pricing wasn't bad either. My only issue was the waitress. My waitress never checked on the table. She took our order and left us alone after that. My drink order was forgotten and had to be corrected on the bill. I would come back and try one more time, but I'd like to see better service.
I’ve been here 4 times now in the past few weeks and each time was enjoyable. The new location is very fresh and clean. The food has been delicious and freshly prepared. I’ve especially enjoyed the Breakfast Meat Pizza and Fresh Fruit Bowl. Best of all, the staff has a very friendly and attentive attitude. Despite being pretty new here, they have made me feel like an appreciated regular.
They were so so busy, I came in for a takeout order I waited quite a bit but so worth it. Delicious food, will be back with my family.\\n\\nUPDATE: back with my family today, the food was good but the service was bad. We waited forever for a table and forever for food to come out, that’s fine. We wanted dessert but nobody came to the table to check on us we were done eating for a while. When she finally came she acted annoyed because it was past their closing time and we wanted the dessert for dine in. Really no need for the attitude. She was talking on the phone for 10 minutes, if someone checked on us 10-15 prior we wouldn’t have stayed passed closing. Really not impressed, I manage a restaurant and I know it’s tricky when you don’t have staff and they’re clearly looking for people. But there is not excuse when there’s 3 tables in the restaurant. Hoping it was just a bad day for them.

Love the new location! Still the best omelet in Virginia Beach. Ezma and her daughter Crystal make you feel very welcome. I tried one of the pizzas on my last trip and it was fantastic. It has to be one of the best places in Virginia Beach for breakfast and/or lunch.
She’s Back!!Closed to re-locate, Ezma is back, new location ( pay attention it’s tucked away in the shops across from Hall Chrysler Dodge and right past the Open Door Chapel. Much more spacious than previously, very comfortable and open. Full bar (!!), and the same fabulous menu of carefully prepared food. Absolutely worth the drive, and parking is plentiful. The BreadBoxBurger is my current favorite.
Wonderful family makes you feel so welcomed to sit down for a fabulous home cooked meal. Breakfast, lunch,and dinner. Everything is great!!
Very classic, very tasty, very clean reasonable prices. Taken care of vegetarian or allergies meals in case you ask. Very good place for breakfast in Virginia Beach. I want try pizza for next time:)
I have been reading reviews on this place and wanted to try it. My wife and I were out and decided to drive out of our way to give it a try. When we arrived there was a gentleman eating a plate of wings and a couple waiting on an order. We viewed the menu for a few minutes, a lady behind the counter walked past us a couple of times. She eventually approached us just to inform us that they have to close early because they ran out of everything. We were in there at 745 and they close at 900. We were amazed that we were not informed of that when we walked in and started viewing the menu. I am not sure if this is the situation but it was almost like she was contemplating if she was going to serve us. The food might be great but I will never know. I am disappointed at the way the situation was handled. She emphasized that they did not have any wings left. We were there to order pizza. I question if there was an underlying reason she decided not to serve us.
