Hurts my heart to give anything less than 5 stars for this place, but genuinely I don’t know why - the last 2 times I’ve come in it’s just been so off. I have been actively coming here since 2008. Menu, food, staff, everything has always been above par. Unfortunately the last 2 times I’ve come in, ordered my usual (fried chicken nachos & fries with ranch) they’ve gotten my order wrong or gave me a hard time about it. I’ve literally ordered the same 2 things for years, always been delicious and never had any complaints. So I’m not sure why all of a sudden it’s a hard request or they just simply don’t care enough to get it right. Also the last time I was there, they charged us for every single refill of soda. Didn’t say anything, just continued to charge for it. Which is completely bazaar to me! I’ve never experienced that in a restaurant before, and if this is a new policy the waitress should’ve at least mentioned it. By the time we got the bill, noticed the issue, we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. I don’t want to say Baja has lost a customer forever but I’m seriously disappointed. Hope things change for the better.
This is not the menu for Baja Cantina! Do not call and order from this menu! The food on their actual menu is REALLY GOOD and the vibe is awesome! I love that there is a separate bar and game room on the smoking side, called MAI BAR. They do a taco special on Mondays vs. the typical Taco Tuesday promotions and the staff is really friendly and accommodating. They mentioned hosting a St. Patty's Day party coming up on March 17th. Even though it's not an Irish bar, it looks like they throw a good party so I'll probably go check that out too!
Decent food. Not very authentic. Friendly staff. Good place to hangout for a while.
Definitely a cool spot. Our waitress Monday morning was fantastic! The fish tacos and chicken nachos are awesome, and we likes the atmosphere. It feels like more of a dive with a large bar in the middle (which we love). Could definitely see us coming back to chill patioside in the summer and they also have an all day happy hour!
The food at Baja Cantina was phenomenal! Francisco gave us the best service we have ever had at a restaurant. His service was absolutely top notch.
The last night of my family trip I made the really unfortunate decision to choose this place to eat our dinner and get some (hopefully cheap or reasonably priced) drinks.I'll start with the fact our waitress was very nice, she was kind and attentive. I have no issues with her service provided.I'm very dissatisfied and so was all 7 of my family members with their food. Taco bell performs better Mexican. They didn't even bother to season my beef on my tacos, looked like cheap Shredded cheese, and it was super basic. Not even any sauce or seasoning, I'm barely able to cook macaroni and I can do better tacos than this. My wife's burrito had no chicken in the middle, my parents dish tasted like frozen chicken dipped in a deep fryer with queso thrown on top. All edible, but man we'll never go back.Oh, happy hour? Yeah that doesn't apply to anything but beer. The whole reason I picked this place out is because it looked like we could go have dinner and 2 or 3 drinks each and relax as a family. Instead I only had one, because at $11 and not half off or discounted at all with happy hour that's just not worth it in my mind, especially when back home the same drinks cost $6-8 max. If it was a 5 star beach front property I'd understand those prices, but they had a screaming drunk lady and an unintelligible man making crazy grunt noises in the background with super loud music. We couldn't hear each other passed one person down the table. The atmosphere was awful.Going to the bathroom? Oh there's no handle. Want to wash your hands? Well no soap in the bathroom. Open the door for the soap in the hallway, go back in, then wash your hands. What a fine establishment.....I mean, a mandatory tip? Yikes, we usually tip above and beyond but that was an awful last straw to cross after delivering all of our food not only 35-50 minutes after we ordered... They delivered two at a time every few minutes. The first dinner prepared was done before the last dinners got brought out. I've never sat in a restaurant my entire life that delivers anything but all at once.I understand staffing issues, as they said they'd hire all positions but man... If they're willing to serve that food at those prices? I hope they change things up, or they'll go under.
Ate here with a group of 8 people for dinner. We all ordered burritos, tacos, and flautas to try them out. The first few dishes came out and then were followed later by our dishes. None of the food came out at the same time, so we all ended up having to wait for quite some time. As we all started to eat our food we realized that they were all mostly lacking flavor. Sure, the dishes contained the meat and vegetables listed, but nothing was seasoned. One of our dishes was so hot that it couldn't even be finished. Essentially, half of the food was just cooked meat thrown into a tortilla with lettuce and tomato and that was it. The other half was so spicy it basically HAD no flavor. Even as I got halfway through my burrito I had to dig for the last of the chicken since the center was basically soggy lettuce and toamto. The food was edible, but extremely bland. Even the drinks they had were not on happy hour, just some draft beers and very few drinks. We ate our food, but we would probably opt to avoid this place going forward.
Well the folks at Baja haven't, and most likely will not have a hard time getting a return visit out of me. Arrived right on time, before tons of people, pleasant atmosphere, and solid, friendly service. A couple of beef taco later(which were excellent), then it was time to walk it off.
Awesome spot. I had the Baja Nachos (which were fire). Great atmosphere and has a smoking section in the restaurant ?
Great place.. Good Drinks, Good food,Fast service and reasonable prices. So far the best Restaurant I've found in VA Beach..!
