We decided to stop here for lunch, and not a single regret. I’ve had lots of BBQ and this is by far the BEST! The owner/staff go out of their way to make sure you’re completely satisfied. Large portions and DELICIOUS food. Looking forward to our next visit!
Had absolutely NOTHING to even remotely complain about at A Taste of Texas, the owner and pit master both made sure to come over to our table and check on us and our food several times. Everyone was so inviting and genuinely happy in there it just polished off our 10/10 experience. We ordered and shared the chopped brisket and smoked turkey platters and I was in BBQ heaven. We were traveling from Atlanta and this was THE BEST BBQ I've had in many years now. The sides we got (creamed corn and smoked beans) were absolutely to die for and the sweet potato biscuits....say no more! PS definitely try dipping your sweet potato biscuit into your creamed corn if you get both, I was amazed.
My husband and I made a pit stop in VA Beach on our road trip. We arrived to it being cold and rainy, but A Taste of Texas made stopping here worth it. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was OUTSTANDING!! I felt right at home even tho we had never met before! We will definitely be stopping every time we are anywhere near VA Beach
The food was amazing, the staff and owner are fantastic. I can't wait to go back. This time we had pulled pork and the bacon mac and cheese. Everyone loved it and wanted to take it home!! A definite go to restaurant!! Well done, Timm.
I love this place. The BBQ here is fantastic, and so are the people.I think everyone thinks they are experts at BBQ. I certainly am not. However, I do understand what this place is going for, and that's letting the meat do the talking. There are no fancy seasonings and things that coat/hide the meat. Yes, they have sauces but that's more of a side note/addition to things. The smoke flavor is what they are going for and the flavor of the meat jumps out. We had the smoked turkey and pulled chicken and I'm happy. The bacon Mac n cheese was almost overpowering with cheesiness (is that even a bad thing?!)Oh, did I mention the portion size?? It's ridiculous. So there is a big bang for your buck. This place just makes me happy, and you can tell they love what they are doing.See you all again. Well done.
First time going and the service was great. As someone who smokes their own BBQ, chicken and ribs and enjoys flavor, this place was a nice little spot. The portions were pretty good and you will definitely be full when you leave. The Mac n cheese was a little too cheesy, and that's saying a lot coming from me bc I LOVE CHEESE. 3 stars bc I personally enjoy more flavor to smoked meats than just the smoke flavor.
Very quaint place with outdoor seating also. Food great, pulled pork yummmm, sweet potato rolls were almost dessert. Loved the sauce choices. Black cherry chipotle and blackberry jalapeno.GIVE IT A TRY... WE WILL BE BACK!!!!
I'm going to put it out there for everyone, this is by far the best BBQ that I've ever had. If you're reading this and trying to find a place to eat, seriously tell Siri or Alexa to navigate you to A Taste of Texas right now. The picture doesn't do the food justice...all I'm going to say is it's a sin that not everybody in the world can enjoy this BBQ. Equally as amazing were the staff. They were super friendly and welcoming! I WILL be back!
Forget east coast vs Texas comparisons, this is just really amazingly prepared meat. Best BBQ I have ever had out East and really up there with top Texas joints. Highly recommend the brisket, ribs, and Mac and cheese. Don’t forget the blackberry sauce too for the brisket. I will definitely be coming back!
