Delicious sandwiches. We ordered a mushroom melt and a customized version of the KBBQ to make it a steak & cheese. (I’ll probably ask for extra cheese next time, but I digress.) Staff seemed friendly and very accommodating to my more-complex-than-I’d-like customization. So I’d say service rocks! They seemed busy making sandwiches as people kept coming in for lunch on a Thursday. Even so, the wait was not long: about 10 minutes — maybe less. Not only were the sandwiches tasty, but they were overflowing with thier ingredients. Such a plethora of mushrooms in the mushroom melt that some were falling out. The kbbq-steak-and-cheese was filled to the brim with marinated sirloin and sautéed mushrooms & onions. I can say confidently that not only does The Sandwich Shop have their ingredient quality on lock, but they aren’t afraid to use their ingredients to build you a masterful hand-held creation.
A very nice lunch place, especially when the weather is right to eat outside. Great variety and everything we've tried is very good. Order ahead, if you can, since there is usually a line to order. Seating is also pretty limited.
Excellent sandwiches of a great variety. I mostly get the food to-go but it travels well. They also have a good variety of chips from specialty brands that have great and interesting flavors. I get the grilled cheese for my kids and it’s quite high quality for a children’s sandwich. The Hot Ham is a household favorite though I often try something new each time
First time at this shop. Would 100% recommend. The staff is super friendly, the food is excellent with quality ingredients. Definitely a for sure spot to come back too.

Visited late on Saturday morning after hearing about the pork and broccolini sandwich. Atmosphere was lively without being too noisy. A welcome sight was families eating with their kids, especially for a local place. Service seemed efficient and focused. I ordered two sandwiches: a BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) and a pork and broccolini with double meat. I also got a scoop of the curried chicken salad and the sweet potato puffs. My order was ready in about ten minutes and given to me by a friendly staffer. The BLTA had a satisfying ratio of the four ingredients along with a good textured and flavored ciabatta. A little less mayonnaise for my taste would have perfected this combination, but overall I would order this sandwich again. The curried chicken salad has plenty of chicken, bright yellow color from the subtle curry flavoring, and enough accents from the raisins to bring everything together. The pork and broccolini was well-proportioned with the double meat and made eating this vegetable rather enjoyable. The pork itself had good flavor and only a touch dry for me. Cheese was just enough for me. I could have used more mustard to lend more sharpness. Like the first sandwich I would order again. The sweet potato puffs have a soft texture and a pleasant flavor. Could they be warmer though?Good to know where this place sits a block away from Chain Bridge Road nearby a few other familiar names. As long as parking holds available, I can see making return visits for a sandwich fix.
2 stars on the basis of food quality, the rest of the establishment unfortunately has gone down hill since opening, service-wise, so proceed to spend time here out of your life at your OWN RISK. What used to take 10 minutes to drive .7 miles to pick up 1 item for lunch is now a past memory. My last order at this establishment resulted in 30 minutes or more of my life I wish I could get back. I arrived after being told the sandwich would be ready in 15 minutes, and had to wait another 15 minutes. This was for a regular menu-item.Keep in mind, these are sandwiches, not a complex, gourmet creation. Plenty of staff seemed to be present, and the restaurant wasn't overflowing.RATING: 2/5 stars- POOR service, slightly above average food, albeit in any other major metropolitan area, this is just another average establishment.
Was finally able to try this place out. Was looking for good cheesteak locations around the dmv area. The ingredients are fresh, you can taste the well seasoned meat paired with their aioli sauce which really gives it an exciting burst of flavor and thier soup of the day was chicken chile which was Phenomenal. Hopefully they make regular chili one day. Definitely a spot to try out.
Let me say this was my first time here and these sandwiches were awesome. I ordered the club, (2) cheese steak, and Reuben. The cheese steak was seasoned just right. The reuben was delicious . I don't give 5 stars but this place is worth the 30 minute drive. Awesome sandwiches. The picture is my last bite of my steak and cheese sandwich
My coworkers and I come here at least 3 times a week. We can't seem to get enough of these phenomenal sandwiches. My personal favorite is the spicy chipotle chicken, however the diversity within the menu allows for us to capitalize on all the other extraordinary options this restaurant has to offer. Fries on the side are also a must with every order. We will continue eating here for as long as we live.
