Loved it. Tucked away inside the Suffolk Cultural Center, it's not easy to find but worth the effort. Had fried shrimp and fried flounder and both were great. Prices were reasonable and services great. They serve a great breakfast as well.

We have lived in VA for about 6 months and are always looking for good breakfast spots. Well, Plaid Turnip was recommended and had good reviews here. The place is nice and unique, it is attached to the museum. Good start. We ordered breakfast, my wife had a avocado toast arrangement with poached eggs, She said it was ok. I ordered basic eggs over easy, bacon and tater tots. Took a long time to get the food, but we can live with that. That plates come out, my wifes' looks good and all set, Mine comes out, bacon, cold tator tots and toast, NO eggs, the waitress said I will bring them right out, Strange. The eggs came out. Just disgusting, like to trying eat slimy soup. Horrible. Didnt even try to eat them I told the waitress, very nice BTW, she said I'm sorry and nothing else. Still got charged the full meal and no other comments. I would think how to cook eggs is 1st on the list at a breakfast place. Sorry to say, we will keep searching. Been to at least 15 breakfast restaurants here and not one that was great, mostly passable. we will keep looking. Suffolk VA area.

Great food. Generous portions. Hard to find now that they moved, but worth the trouble.

The husband and I moved to Holland a little over a year ago. The Turnip was closed due to the pandemic so it took us awhile to get here but man it was worth the wait. The good was fresh and reasonably priced. Good portions but not trough sized. The staff was GREAT. Laid back, friendly, cool. We WILL be back!

Best place I have been to in a very long time! Super quick service, always there right when my drink needed refilled, and asked questions about how the meal was and how else they could help. Food was cooked to perfection, was served in a timely fashion and the portions were up to pair for the price you pay. Amazing breakfast, will definitely be coming back for lunches and dinners!

1st time here, it is INSIDE of the Suffolk Center of Cultural Arts and there are NO signs outside. Once we found it we were immediately and warmly greeted and seated. The waitress was very nice. Large selection on the menu. We had to wait awhile for the food. I had fried green tomatoes which were delicious and came with more than I expected, hubby had shrimp which he ate all of and said were good. He got pulled pork and sides for his meal and said everything was good. I got the cold chicken salad plate and was disappointed. The eggs were boiled instead of deviled, and the chicken salad was very plain. Came with a lot of garnishments but not enough to eat with the chicken salad. I asked for some crackers to go with it but she never brought them so I stole hubby's toast and made it work. Sides were ok, sweet potato fries weren't that good. We didn't see nor were offered dessert. $60 for 2 people for lunch. Not a new fav, but I would try again I'd like to try the crabcakes.

Google reviews had people raving. And maybe it is amazing when it's not the holidays. We found this as a suggestion on Google maps while coming through town. There is zero signage outside to indicate where to go. It took finding a review and asking a gentleman outside if we were in the right vicinity.Coming inside, we were greeted and asked if we had a reservation. Must be great food to need a reservation! We got here 10:55, we were served at noon. Out of our three orders, the Meatzilla was the one to rave about. The Crabacado filled the dish and left little to the imagination. They definitely use extra breading to sweeten the crab cake that is folded into the omelette. The grits that came with the dish, definitely prepared way before the omelette, so there was a thick coat of setting when the food arrived. I ordered the Upstream Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce was light and creamy, the salmon was a little undercooked to my preference and I chose to skip the red onion and capers. In our experience, The Plaid Turnip has a wonderful presentational setup. The establishment smells amazing and wonderful when you enter, but you are going to get full on smells alone waiting for your food.I dont blame this on the business, but rather DoorDash and other pickup deliveries. When we asked on a time check for our food, they had been slammed with online orders and had to prioritize them. In all honesty, not a bad experience and will visit again during slow season when we come back through.

Definitely not easy to find but Im glad I called and got directions. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing. The portion size was enough for 2 and the pricing was very good. Definitely go for dessert! That lemon cupcake was the best Ive ever had! Will definitely be returning and bringing more friends!

This was my second time ordering from them. The first time was couple weeks ago. Everything was delicious. We decided to order door dash from here for breakfast again today because it was very good. Today the food was good again, the breakfast platter was great, French toast was good, liver, no problems. There's a pretty severe issue with the salad I ordered. The Cobb salad I ordered looked very pretty, avocado was fresh and green. I took a bite of the corn, it tasted odd, there was a alcoholic scent to it. so I picked around the corn. Looking closely there were visible sticky slime that pull strings from the corn grains.(and no that's not from the dressing because they didn't give me any salad dressing today so I had my salad plain) I think the corn went bad it was fermenting already. The corns on my salad looked like Japanese natto. Pretty sure you should check the freshness of your inventory. I threw my salad away because I was not sure if the rest of the ingredients in there was safe to eat.

Absolutely amazing food! Wow! Huge portions great prices and every single item in our party of 6 was delicious. The wait staff was fantastic as well. Well done ladies!
