Haven't been back here since they changed owners I think. Got the General Tso's Fried Rice Lunch special for $8.25. The good lunch price was the only positive. Food was extremely bland, normally Chinese food is a little heavy on the salt and flavors but this time I was looking for salt. I put some soy sauce on the fried rice to help a little and the food was edible but still just had no flavor. Side note on me, I don't complain at restaurants because you never know what happens behind the scenes when some complaints can aggravate people who handle your food. Since food was edible I scrapped the sauce off the chicken as much as I could and ate with the fried rice. Definitely, not returning back. Was surprised that they charge for hot tea, that was a first.
Hot Peppercorns in Springfield, VA was under a different name and maybe different management too, i stopped going there for over four years because the food was not good. Today i really wanted dim sum and all the usual places i don’t like anymore because their quality of the food had gone downhill. My favorite dim sum place “Fortunate” is closed. I was so happy to find Hot Peppercorns, i almost didn’t go in because i thought it was the old restaurant that i didn’t like. Thanks goodness i went in and so happy i was wrong, the flavors and quality of the food as i remembered dim sum to be and had in the past. I ordered a lot more dishes than shown in pictures. I hope they don’t change their flavors or lower their quality.
I usually love the food here. The have some dishes like Shanghai soup dumplings that are hard to find. I also find the specials very good interesting, like eggplant with the salty fish.I am making this 4 stars because today we ordered the sesame chicken and i think it got fried in oil that was used for fish. This made the chicken taste pretty bar. I hope the restaurant reads this review and takes this into consideration.
Ordered the Orange chicken, Beef Lo main, traditional dumplings, chicken gyoza, scallion pancakes, and crab and cream cheese wonton. Food was amazing and staff was friendly and welcoming. Visiting from the Northeast the food was delicious and highly recommended.
Very clean and bright with fun decor and beautiful presentation. The staff were very attentive and service was quick. The food was authentic and delicious! We were very impressed with the selection and everything we ordered. We will definitely be back and will be bringing friends!
I made an order over the phone and when I come to pick it up the had given my order to another customer. I understand mistake happens so I asked them to make another order and I'll wait I have no problem with that. I simply told the lady that she didn't get my name down when I order over the phone and they should confirmed the name and order before given away the food away. She response "How I'm I suppose to know, we don't take down name or phone number we just ask the customer what they ordered." I wasn't expecting that. A simple sorry would do just fine. But an arrogant response like that is unacceptable. I decided to canceled my order and she said whatever. I'd love to support a local business like this but I will not be coming back to Hot Peppercorn again. Food was okay, service wasn't.
This restaurant was Golden Hong Kong, and now Peppercorn... but everything is pretty much the same... menu, food quality, Employees except for the prices. It might be a tiny bit higher. I got the salty and spicy pork chop, and some dim sum items. Some food didn't make it home, and whatever is left, I managed to get some pics. The pork chop was good... a light crunchy but not really salty or spicy. The dim sum is pretty much the same comparing to other restaurants'. One noticeable change was the sticky rice wrapped in leaves. It was more dry, not sticky like before, and much smaller. Still good.
I usually drive to Falls Church for good Chinese cuisine. Hot Peppercorn brought that amazing taste in Springfield. Love the Pan-fried Sea food. The pecking duck was great. The place is very clean. The owners are wonderful. Our waiter was this old timer who made us laugh and was super friendly.
Great place with good service time. I've ordered from there twice (duck and dim sum) and got my orders on time, and the food was amazing. It's just as good as Golden Hong Kong was. I highly recommend it if you like good Chinese food.
Delicious dim sum with good varieties and good bbqs. They also have DAN DAN MIAN/NOODLES and shanghai style soup dumpling. Good place for family to get together to enjoy a diversify amount of Chinese cuisines. Also their tea is good too.
