Food was excellent well Prepared and plated. Staff were responsive and very knowledgeable. They are one of our favorites!
Had a really great dinner here. Second time. Nice small spot and we’ve not had anything we didn’t enjoy so far. Pimento cheese was great and steak was cooked perfectly.
I am not one to usually leave reviews but I had to go out of my way to leave 1 for this restaurant. I was visiting from out of town and did a quick Google search for nice restaurants and this 1 jumped out at me. I decided to make a reservation and go the day before and wow, everything I ate from the biscuits to the oyster wraps to the grouper to the banana pudding was amazing and my waitress Leah did a great job recommending things. All of the staff was very professional, the restaurant is very nice, and it's in a cool part of Roanoke. If I am ever back in town again I will definitely be returning. Go out of your way and spend the extra money to definitely check this place out!! 5/5
Jessica was top notch! Great wine selection! Small menu but the flavors of each entrée was perfectly matched up. Beautiful Dining room, great full service bar for walk-in dining, tables are Reservation only, it's worth it!
This is a real restuarant, trained staff, professionals that know what they're doing.Real talent in the kitchen and it showed and could be tasted in every bit. Wonderful experience!

Still getting five stars! Restaurant is closed at the moment. Sign on the door says on winter break till January 12. Would have been nice if the restaurant updated their Google listing. I worked in restaurants for four years so I love that the entire staff is getting time off during all this going on. Hopefully pay is still being worked out.Anyways, I was pretty bummed but it’s OK though. It happens. Just very unfortunate as I was in town for work and I got excited for this top rated restaurant. Perhaps next time I’m in town, I will be able to visit and try this amazing chicken I’ve read about.As an alternative, I went down a few minutes to Inka Grill Peruvian Cuisine. Excellent meal. If you’re also looking for a great meal between now and January 12, go to Inka Grill and order the lomo saltado since The River and Rail is closed till then.Anytime after that, visit The River and Rail while I sit at home, in Maryland and very jealous.Stay safe. my husband and I had the best NYE dinner, best quality food, great service, great atmosphere. 5 stars ? we will definitely be back for more.
This was such a fun surprise! We stopped here on a road trip and ate at the bar. The cocktails were fantastic, maybe a little over priced, but worth it. The menu offers an eclectic range of items. Everything we tasted was delicious, right down to the dessert! The wait staff was very kind. Suffice to say, we thoroughly enjoyed this meal!
Had my brother's birthday dinner here and as always very well prepared and presented. Menu changes daily but has the usual fish, chicken, steak, and a pork dish usually. Ask for the pimento cheese which isn't always on menu but is always in stock, we usually order a second one!
