Coffee was fine.The blt bagel was horrific! Toasted, put together then microwaved until sparks came off it. After 7 minutes it had lost enough molten-esk temperature to try it.The bagel was, as expected from a microwave, hard and un edible.So, disassembling this Chernobyl bisket..Come to find the bacon is raw. Somehow it did not absorb enough radiation to cook.Stick with coffee at steam.And maybe get the girl behind the counter some help.She's trying to do everything and she really tries.
Since this is a Starbucks eatery, we expected the typical choices. No decaf and if you want something gluten free, your only choice is a Kind bar. The sandwiches are pre-made. Very unfriendly young woman who served us.

It is a shame to be in the coffee area of a first class hotel and get food that MacDonalds, I swear does better. The coffee is Starbucks which is okay. The service was fine.

Excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. Service is typically great. The bill was fair for the quality of the food. Atmosphere is similar to a place in Columbus I loved.
Before checking out I stopped in at the Steam Cafe at the beautiful Hotel Roanoke and conference center. Nicest young man, Orlando, served me. What a ray of sunshine and bubbling personality he is. I highly recommend a stop in the morning for your coffee, and if you’re able to get there after 7, you might just get to sample one of his delicious sounding pastries.
On a recent stay at the Hotel Roanoke we purchased coffee a couple of times at Steam - a little coffee shop in their lobby area. I was impressed because they had brewed decaf all day long and the staff was polite and helpful. There were times when the line got very long because it was right next to the conference center but they kept on smiling!
The coffee here was prepared expertly by the barista. The location is OK with little seating area, but then again, there is a conference center lobby steps away. The branding is neat with the STEAM logo. My main gripe, and this true for most hotel Starbucks, is that they will not take the card/app so no points are collected. I do not understand why this is the case. It is convenient and tasty though, so a good choice for a drink and snack.
