I was a bit reluctant to try the ânewâ Lucky because I really LOVED the âoldâ Lucky. BUTâ¦we gave it a try and really loved everything we ordered. We had a party of three and each ordered 2 items and the cheese plate. And we were pleasantly full. Sharing was nice with this group however I wouldnât want to share with less familiar people. Each dish had excellent flavor and their was a nice variety. We thought about ordering â the menuâ but didnât because there were a couple of items that no one wanted to try. Favorites included the short ribs, potatoes and caprese salad. Drinks were excellent! Menu is pricey. We will definitely go back!
Was a great dinner with some dishes we have never had . We ordered the whole menu of the small plates and was great to try everything. The staff was great and very friendly. Drinks were amazing!! Great place to celebrate my husband for his birthday. Thank you
I was excited to see the new menu. I liked it better than the old menu except I miss their amazing Brussels sprouts! I hope they change it seasonally. Itâs pretty expensive for the area too, but the cocktails are amazing.
I LOVED the old lucky restaurant, but the new, completely different lucky is not for me. I miss the previous food and ambiance. I had very high hopes but was very disappointed. The food was okay. I agree with the other review in that it is atrociously overpriced. $15 for one scallop, really? I did the tasting menu so I had everything and wasn’t in love with anything. All of it was just okay. The drinks and service were good. Our server was knowledgeable about everything, but sadly it just wasn’t good. I guess I’ll just come here for drinks from now on.
Despite enthusiastic attempts from the lovely Lucky staff to prepare us for the fact that you need to spend a lot of money and order many plates to leave without planning your takeout delivery to arrive at your house half-way through your meal, there's nothing that can quite prepare you. The food was creative and interesting. There's no doubt everything was local and much thought and talent was put into each dish. This does not change, however, the extreme issue. There was NOT enough food to constitute a meal. If you'd like to not leave hungry, you are going to need to order the entire menu of small plates (for 2-3 people if everyone likes almost everything). This alone will cost you about $180. We ordered four plates (one scallop - literally, octopus, salad, and potatoes) for two people. We both had to eat when we got home. That, a glass of wine (5 oz) and a couple coffees the size of cappuccinos set us back $80. Lucky's wants to be fine dining. Which I can understand and it seems like they have the chef talent to do that. However, they need to couple their small plates into actual meal sets. I've been to plenty of tapas restaurants. Few of those experiences could have prepared me for a $15 scallop (singular). Some other potential suggestions: - mark vegetarian/vegan plates as such. It's hard to understand all of the menu item ingredients (because so many are quite rare). - include free bread or SOMETHING. I've never before left a restaurant hungrier. - thank your wait staff - they're doing some heavy lifting for you. They did a great job, still didn't actually feed me. - include decently priced wine you can get at less than $11 for 5oz. Common. House wine. - get some stevia for your coffee - as stated above - figure out a way for people to easily leave knowing that a certain price will actually leave them full. To say I'm frustrated at that is an understatement. If I know I need to spend $100 to be full, at least I can know that.
Luckyâs small plates were excellent. The summer flavors were exceptionally brought together. Highly recommend the ceviche, tomatoes and African vegetables and the scallop and the oysters, as always.
Had been in the past and the menu was better and there were entrees available. The new âsmall bitesâ menu was very esoteric and small. Had to go home and eat a frozen pizza. The Hurricane drink was good.
Great place to eat if you like food that is fairly tasty, stupidly pretentious and equally overpriced. A couple of examples. A plate of scallops for two that only has one scallop. A plate of alleged octopus that might have two grams of actual octopus suspended in gelatin. All that, paired with a wait staff that spent more time talking to each other than paying attention to customers. This is the new version of Lucky, a formerly great restaurant. Now it's just a place for people with more money than sense.
The food was small plates and we ordered the menu! Wait staff was amazing and chef came by several times! Cocktails are unique and delicious ð
Lucky has totally changed their business model but has not bothered to reflect those changes to the general public online, including here on Tripadvisor. Here's a more current, relevant review.
