Heard from family that this place was good.I am a huge fan of ice cream and this Blue Cow did not disappoint. I got a salted caramel single scoop in a cone and it’s quite a bit of ice cream. I had no trouble finishing it of course!There is no where to sit and eat inside so we sat outside. It was a little warm so we had to eat our ice cream more quickly before it melted but it was still good.If I had heard about the flight before I ordered I probably would have gotten the flight so we could try a few types (I was with my husband and 2 girls).PS. Kind of ironic it’s next to a density right? Remember to brush your teeth after your ice cream or you may need to come back for some cavities later!
This place is in a great location. It also has amazing homemade ice cream. I recommend the goat cheese blueberry. Our son has autism and the understood and accommodated to him. They even gave him a free stickers that they usually charge for. Great job staff!
I love this shop and recommend it all the time. Small, local business that specializes in homemade ice cream. The flavor lineup is excellent, with plenty of options for those who like classics and those wanting some more artisanal tastes. (There are always vegan options, too!) My favorite option is to get an ice cream “flight” with 4 different small cups (because I can never pick one flavor).They have toppings, milkshakes, waffle cones, etc… but it’s not a Cold Stone experience. You’re here for the small batch ice cream.Bonus points: the patio is shaded and overlooks the river.
Smells like heaven as soon as you walk in the door! They're making their own waffle cones which leaves the air smelling delicious. How can you resist? They allow you to sample the flavors to pick your favorite ice cream. I got the goat cheese and blueberry flavor which was fantastic. Will definitely be back! Parking lot is small so you may have to park in a neighboring lot or take advantage of the walking trail and shimmy up the nicely designed short walkway from the Greenway below. Enjoy!
So good you can smell it when you walk in! I love ice cream, and love trying local spots whenever I travel. Blue Cow is some of the best ice cream I’ve had in all of my tastes! The other places in Roanoke don’t even compare! (I tried 3 different spots in less than 36 hours.) Got the sea salt brickle with caramel swirl and chocolate brownie in a waffle cone. Each flavor was literally perfect. This is one of those ice cream shops I’ll continue to dream about until I return. Well done, Blue Cow!

Gets crazy busy on nice days but they still move fast. It's busy because the ice cream is absolutely delicious and tastes fresh and homemade. Classic flavors are far better than the grocery store versions but if you really want to find the hidden gems go for the unique options like goat cheese and blueberry
we were 1st timers this weekend. snickerdoodle was delicious and so was the chocolate brownie. waffle cones made in house were delicious too! can't wait to go back and sample some more flavors! the line was understandably pretty long. highly recommended!!
