I gave this a 3 mainly because multiple drinks on the drink menu could not be made due to lack of ingredients. Then waitress came by grab drinks for us and nothing for my toddler had to ask. Tried to ask a question to the waitress twice and twice not sure I'd she didn't hear me but just walked away. The drink special we ordered had so much strawberry chunks a straw couldn't be used.Food was great overall

Don't know how they could be any better. Food and drinks are beyond expectation. Had their crabcake sandwich, best I've ever had! Husband had steakhouse burger with a brown sugar bacon that gave it an extra special flavor. Stopped here on our way home to N Carolina and hope to come again!

Great food! I was disappointed they didn’t have the pastrami sandwich that’s on their online menu, but I took the bar tenders advice and did the corned beef sandwich. Very good. There is a lot more on the menu I want to check out.

Stopped in Roanoke on our way back to Ohio from Georgia, found this restaurant via Google. Very large, varied menu. Charming place, friendly & efficient service, nice choice of libations. All 4 of us LOVED our meals -- some had sandwiches, some a traditional main course. Chef has culinary degree from Johnson & Whales & it shows ! Highly recommend !

Great food and service. Local beer selection. Wine and cocktails. Great crabcake sandwich and burger for lunch. Try the frickles! Outside dining available though street scenery is currently drab but inside is low lit and groovy!

We ate dinner here after having only cocktails the night before. The food looked and smelled so good we had to come back and try it. The owners are also the chefs. The filet/scallops special that night was excellent, as was the salmon that is listed on the menu. Our waiter (Jimmy) was very informative and is an asset for the restaurant. We were sorry we weren't staying in town longer so that we could eat another meal there.

My wife and I had lunch today (4/13) at Bernard’s. This review has nothing to do with its food nor drink but rather how rudely the “hostess” - actually the bartender - treated a pair of out of town customers! After seating us she immediately returned to her bartending duties rather than immediately seating the obvious out of town guests standing immediately behind us in the foyer. I say obvious by their name tags around their necks!!! After pouring several drinks at the bar she came over to our table asking us if we would like anything to drink! Shocked, as the couple were still standing in the foyer, I politely asked her if she could seat them before taking our order! She actually acted annoyed (!!!) by my request but then proceeded to sit them. Turns out they were from Houston and Italy; attending a conference at the Hotel Roanoke. As we dinned I noticed that out of the 6 occupied tables, 4 were obviously occupied by guests of this conference - all had the similar name tags around their necks. We chatted with the couple for several minutes after they were seated next to us; hoping to show a little bit better Southern Hospitality.

Very happy I gave this place a chance. The bartender was on her A game, serving the entire dining room by herself yet the service was unmatched. Beautiful restaurant with nice music and a great ambiance, as well as some very clean restrooms. I ordered the Texan burger and it was one of the best I’ve ever had, their cheesy potatoes are also worth a try. I look forward to returning to this location.

We went to Bernard’s for St Patty's Day dinner. I ordered the fish and chips. While eating the French fries I found something chewy in my mouth. It turns out they fried a rubber band in my fish and chips. The waiter apologized for the mistake. I wanted the chef and owner to come out and apologize but he didn’t have the respect to apologize himself. Are you that big a jerk that you can’t come out and apologize? What if I had swollowed the rubber band? I have been dining in Roanoke for eight years and never did I have this problem at any other restaurant. I am not going back to this restaurant ever again.

My favorite place to eat in Roanoke! It has amazing tasting food, great portions and wonderful staff. I have gotten the chicken Milanese, salmon, and Cottage pie, all of them were incredible! You’ll need a reservation before you go, but the atmosphere, staff, and food is so worth it!
