My fiancé and I were traveling through and stopped in Roanoke for the night. Our front desk clerk suggested this place for dinner and we were very excited for some seafood in a casual setting (as we were not trying to spend two hours on a formal dinner). I know this place is called awful Arthur’s but we did not expect such an experience. We got seated and submitted our order at 9:16. Bar was a bit busy so drinks took about 20 minutes, which is not crazy. About 45 minutes in, we received our appetizer of 6 shrimp. About an hour and a half later we received our entrees. Our waitress who was running around and doing the best she could explained they only had one cook as the other walked out. She was great and very apologetic and advised she would check if they could offer any discount. We did not inquire about one but were appreciative. She came back to let us know that Dan, the off duty manager that was drinking at the bar, refused to offer anything. I am a manager in hospitality and completely understand when things happen out of your control. Instead of sending the message along, it would’ve been professional to offer an apology instead of hanging your employee out to dry. In addition, maybe assisting your cook instead of downing beers and watching your team members flail. Never coming back here again and suggesting our hotel to maybe not recommend them.To the sweet waitress who tried her best, thank you and I hope they know your worth!

Very loud bar area, even in the early evening, which just reverberated throughout the whole restaurant. Food was barely ok. Wait staff were not engaging. Not good overall, especially for families, unless you’re there to drink and socialize.

Food was not worth the money, we left almost a full steak because it was so bad and we were never asked if there was anything wrong. A good server would notice uneaten food and make sure their guests were happy, not ours, just wanted to know if we wanted a to go container. Even after saying no, still not asked if there was anything wrong with the steak. I paid by credit card and it was the most uncomfortable situation having the server hold the hand held while I paid and had to put her tip in as she is standing over me watching. I will never go back and would not recommend to anyone. Their name truly and honestly represents the restaurant.

I had never been here before but met some friends for a drink on a Saturday and dang it was busy! Also St. Patrick’s month I guess? Drinks are over priced ($6 domestic draft) as you would expect from a bar downtown and food is on the more expensive side as well. Nothing crazy unique about this place but apparently if you are looking for a weekend crowd it’s the place to be. Service was good despite the crowd. There are for sure better local places to check out in Roanoke before you end up here.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Awful Arthur’s. We went on a Friday evening around 8pm; it was fairly quiet, but the atmosphere/ambience is upbeat and energetic. The food came out quick and Lisa provided exceptional and accurate service.I had the fried crab cake sandwich and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were delicious and the portions were generous! The Old Bay seasoned French fries were tasty as well.We will definitely be back!

Their drink prices are great! Great service. Shrimp was so over cooked it was rubbery. Second time with the same shrimp experience. Do not try their pepper jack soup unless you have tortilla chips! It’s not soup, it taste like thick queso.

Had a friend came to town for a visit, neither one of us had ate at Awful Arther’s before…so glad we checked it out- the food was excellent, waitress was very attentive and friendly! Had such a wonderful experience we went back the next day to try other food. Will definitely visit again!

Waitress rude and uncaring. Wings hard, utensils and cups dirty (lipstick on cups). Usually a pleasant experience but I feel like I am going to get in trouble if I ask the waitress for something.

Very spacious and loving seafood bar. Food and atmosphere are excellent. Nice prices on everything. There prep and finishing test are in the tops in the region. Lunch is amazing. Get the fish sandwich. 2 for 1 Crabs usually on Tuesday. Nice bands and DJ'S pre Corona.
