I haven’t been to a Chinese restaurant in Richmond in years and I was pleasantly surprised by this gem. Arrived for a birthday lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. For drinks we ordered the Zombies a pretty good mix of Sweet & Strong. For my Entree I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein with Hot and Sour soup. It was really good and nice portion sizes I’ll definitely be recommending to others

Rude nasty owner. I got off work today at 8 and went to order from them and then was accused of placing an order with them and not picking it up. The owner told me that my phone number was on the ticket. I drove up to the store to confirm this with them and what did you know the phone number on the order was NOT mine. Basically I was accused of ordering something and he was trying to make me liable for an order I did not place. After driving up there to confirm this the owner came up with some other excuse that the phone number was associated to me, which again it isnt and even if it was, it was clear that I did not place the order. I ended up going to the chinese restaurant on Lauderdale road where there I was treated with respect and I was very pleased. Its crazy they did that to me because yen ching use to be my fav restaurant and I wouldnt have driven up there on my free time to prove I didnt order the food if I did. Shame on them!!

Presentation was nice, the fried rice was excellent, and the won ton soup and crunchy noodles were very good. My husband was pleased with his spicy General Tso's chicken, and our granddaughter with her pork lo mein. My cashew shrimp was loaded with shrimp but had no flavor. I've never had this dish without some kind of sauce added. It was just a pile of shrimp and celery with some cashews and a few strips of carrot. I'll try something different next time. The waiters were helpful and very pleasant.

Food was pretty good. Not the best but certainly not the worst from a Chinese restaurant. But holy cow! The sticker shock gave me a heart attack. I ordered my family's usual that I've ALWAYS bought from Chinese restaurants. 2x General Tso, 1x chicken fried rice, 1x Crab Rangoon, 1x Beef lo Mein (We USUALLY get 2) and, 4 egg rolls.Price? $77 and some change. This meal even earlier during the Pandemic? with larger portions? No more then $55 including tax. As a first time customer, I hope this is due to the horrible inflation. Otherwise, I'm sorry, the food was good, but not $77 good. Especially when the portion sizes were smaller then I'm used to as well. No choice for larger sizes, and the size I got especially with the General Tso's, was horrible.Notes: keep in mind I usually buy 2x Lo Mein , and other places I've ordered from have a Small and large of the sides and we always go for the large.) Earlier during the Pandemic, would have cost no more then $55. And again, that's considering large sizes. The person who took my order also didn't tell me the price on the phone. So that also contributed to the "sticker shock."So keep this in mind if you are looking for another favorite Chinese restaurant. (I've only been in the area 6 months and my family usually eats at Hibachi Sushi and Supreme Buffet.)If anyone who's lived in the area since at least the early Pandemic, before inflation occurred, PLEASE tell me if these prices are out of the ordinary. (Meaning, they are so high due to the inflation.)

I have been going to Yen Cheng for about a year now sometimes to eat in but mostly for pickup. The food is fantastic and the best I have experienced. During Covid many restaurants and fast foods have lowered their standards and rarely even give you what you order. But at Yen Ching my order has always been correct right down to the sauces and napkin's. I pick up food often and pass by many similar restaurants to get Yen Ching, and it is worth it, and the employees are fantastic! Everything is excellent, but Try their Brocolli Chicken, the best in town! I am addicted to it.

We had beef & broccoli and chicken & bronco and egg drop soup and Oolong tea, Kevin was our waiter and he is excellent, the food there is always delicious and the entire staff is excellent ?

If you are not a regular, (although we order from here 3x a month)Order is always late. Like 20-30minutes late. Never because of being busy. Food is overpriced and average. Expect better service if price is high. Will not be back.

We wasted $100 on terrible food last night Way more expensive than where we normally order. We completely threw out two dishes… the eggplant in brown sauce was so over cooked that the skin was silver/grey and it was so mushy that is was slimy… the chicken lettuce wraps were seasoned with and had so many bell peppers that it tasted Mexican, along with coming with browning lettuce. The egg rolls were dripping with oil and the crab Rangoon smelled and tasted fishy. The sesame chicken was completely dried out. Total waste of too much money.

Yen Ching has been one of the better restaurants in the area, but based on my visit yesterday ( November 16 2021) it has become one of the worst. I ordered for Pickup Chicken and Broccoli with 2 egg rolls. The egg rolls were dried out and overcooked - The Chicken Broccoli Dinner was dry and not very good at all.The bill was about 20 Dollars and I threw half of it away.Important - This restaurant has been my go to Place for over two years but based on my experience yesterday I may never return in the future.Perhaps they are having staff shortages or other problems (unknown). Perhaps it was a fluke and just a bad day but the meal did not even taste good. The egg rolls were Overcooked and dry - everything tasted like it was an afterthought and had been sitting around for hours.I may try it again much later but I doubt it. There are a lot of other choices

Great food and service. 25 people in our party. Nobody went hungry or thirsty.
