I’m glad they survived the pandemic.. lots of local places like this did not make it. The service here has always been pretty slow, but I’d say it’s worth checking out for the ambiance.. the food is ok.. they have a nice selection of kombuchas and gluten free deserts. I usually avoid this place because it’s kind of pricey(most places downtown are) but I’m glad they are still around bc Shockoe Slip wouldn’t be the same without it.
Came in yesterday, ordered a black iced tea. Was fine. Came in today ordered a black iced tea. Paid $6.00 including a dollar tip. Was given some strawberry sugar water. I said, “this is the black iced tea?” Was then told they didn’t have any. And the guy didn’t even care. Didn’t ask to refund me or anything. Spent $6 on the knowledge that I won’t be coming back. Ambivalence speaks volumes.
Got the veggie sausage, I like the idea of a panini style breakfast sandwich, but this was just very dry. coffee tasted like it came from a moldy Keurig (not being dramatic). Vegetarians, just stick to getting your breakfast sandwich from lamplighter like everyone else does.
We travel thru Richmond on our way home and had the opportunity to have a great breakfast here.Break fast sandwiches were delicious and very generous portions. Irish oatmeal was cooked perfectly and topped with fresh fruit . Excellent coffee rounded out the meal. As good as the food was, the place is charming and the staff is friendly, fun and professional. Will go back whenever we are in town
Food was a bit lackluster and the line was long and the space, busy (Saturday morning). That said, the restaurant building was very accessible and quite clean.I would give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it again next time I’m in town.
Lovely little cafe, service was friendly and fast. They were out of several menu items, but we were visiting later in the afternoon. A bit on the pricey side.
We were greeted with a warm welcome by staff in this bright airy market/cafe, a popular spot with locals. Delicious menu options and lots of fresh juice choices. Loved the tarragon tuna salad sandwich and friend enjoyed scrumptious avocado toast. Both came with side fresh fruit cup: Asian pear slices w/heavenly purple grapes splashed with a dash of balsamic vinegar. Inspired. All three staff members were engaging and friendly making us out-of-towners feel right at home. Set in historic Richmond very near a wonderful bookshop: The Fountain. Worth a visit!
Bit expensive. Person in charge of taking orders seemed confused and had to ask me to repeat my order several times. Matcha latte was made with oat milk for some reason and tasted bad. Sandwich was pretty good.
Urban Farmhouse Cafe gets four stars. Atmosphere is great, menu is creative and expansive. My meal pictured is a combo with lentil soup and the beet salad. Value for your dollar is acceptable, not a bargain though. I wish that my meal came on a real plate that was larger. The waste of serving everything on disposables doesn't really line up with their sustainable/clean eating angle. Not sure why but their branding feels a little dated. Second visit, last time was when they were still under Linden Row!
Sandwiches are really good, and drinks are what you would hope for. There is a high probability they get your name and/or order wrong or just forget about your order. However, the staff will be really nice about correcting it and will always do their best to give you what you ordered. I've only been there twice, but neither time have I managed to receive everything in our order exactly as we ordered it. But we've always been happy to be there.
