I wish I had taken a picture. This is the second time that I brought pastries to work for a birthday. The first time was with a huge carrot cake, I got rave reviews and recently, I got two key lime pies and a bunch of brownies. Made everybody's day! Good service, very friendly, and their food is fantastic. Next time I will be sure to take a picture.
The owner is the best around! A real expert professional. She is willing to work with her customers and/or pass them to other bakers if she thinks it's better for the customer. Her designs are beautiful as they are delicious! Highly recommend paying a visit whenever you're in the neighborhood. She's always got something irresistible on the shelf!
We got our wedding cupcakes here and not only was it the easiest experience and the prices super fair, but the cupcakes were just sooo delicious. Definitely plan on using them again!
i love this place and the desserts! The 3 star is only because of how rude that Tracy is. She has no manners or customer service skills. The last time that i was there she was beyond rude and acted like me being there was bothering her.
We are SO fortunate to have had The Mixing Bowl team as part of our wedding on 10/30/2021– I truly cannot recommend them enough! I initially reached out to Phyllis, TMB wedding coordinator, in a totally frenzied state: my previous vendor had dropped the ball on me with less than 6 months until the big day. As an out-of-state, pandemic bride, I was ready to accept a Betty Crocker cake at this point, but Phyllis assured me TMB could still accommodate *whatever* it was I envisioned. All of our email exchanges were upbeat and promptly responded to.When life forced me to make a last minute trip through VA, I called TMB on a whim to see if I could grab a cake sample on my way through town. I was definitely expecting a "no, we're so sorry, we can't swing that," and would have been fine with that response. However, they made it happen with hardly any notice, and the sample was free!As if all that weren't enough, my mom was in charge of the dessert for the rehearsal dinner, but after a bunch of mishaps, I sent a bridesmaid's husband into the wilderness and told him to handle it with 0 instruction. TMB hooked him up beautifully!Needless to say, the cake was as delicious as it is beautiful. Thank you, TMB team and Phyllis! I have nothing but amazing things to say about this bakery!! From the quick response via email, friendly staff on the phone making the ordering process a breeze, to picking up my order & how unbelievably amazing the cake & cookies turned out. I mean from the appearance to the taste, everything was wonderful. This is my GO TO BAKERY as long as I’m in VA. Thanks for being so sweet and friendly on the phone & in person!! Had a pretty lousy experience and rather weak apology and response from the bakery. Ordered a birthday cake for my sons third birthday 3 weeks in advance. They sent the confirmation email as to what the cake would entail with flavor and design and completely blew it. It was nothing at all what we agreed on for the design of the cake! And it was a horrible cake, way too dry and the frosting and filling was incredibly over sweet and disgusting. Pretty disappointing since this was the first real birthday my son will remember instead of just seeing photos of.
