THRILLED to have found them!! Just ordered and sent gf cinnamon rolls to our “under the weather”Fam in Richmond!! They were still warm when they arrived! What a treat ! The owner is lovely and there’s nothing we want to do more than support a small local business! This will be our go to bakery and vegan spot!!
amazing, amazing meals!!!!! what incredible chefs. loved the veggie grain bowl and all the other food, drinks and desserts we ordered! super friendly owners and wish i could eat like this every meal!! thank you!!!!
I ordered a dozen cupcakes that were incredible. Absolutely recommend the raspberry ganache, it was decadent to say the least!
Just look at these breads!
Love this queer and black owned spot. The cinco rolls and the lunch specials are so delectable. Will definitely be a lifelong customer.
Got some vegan caramels from them at a maker's market a while ago and they were luscious!
I really, really wanted to like this place. However it took them 3 1/2 hours to get the food to my door. I ordered at 10:30am to have weekend brunch and the food only arrived just a minute before 2pm. They also made the delivery driver wait at the location for an hour. Unfortunately, the wait was not really worth it. Some of the items were downright bad and the good ones were not worth the wait. They also left out my drink. One positive thing I can say is that the portions are very generous.French toast: pretty good, I think it was made with chocolate Babka instead of cinnamon, but still delicious. However it didn't come with maple syrup which I kind of expect with French toast. It also came with tempeh bacon which was pretty good and had a nice smoky flavor and chewy texture.Cajun hash: well seasoned, nice complement to the sweet French toast.French onion quiche: this had such a pungent, awful aroma I didn't even want to try it. I managed to get a few bites and it just didn't taste good. The texture was off and the flavor was really off-putting. I don't recommend it. I've actually made vegan quiche myself using just egg and it came out delicious just like an egg-based quiche, so I don't know what they're doing here but it's not being done properly.Southern beignets: I was really looking forward to these, however they were kind of flat and tasted only of old fryer oil. They were pretty much a grease sponge and very disappointing.Chocolate and almond croissant: this has the potential to be good but I think it was baked at too high a temperature too quickly because the outside was burned but the inside was still raw. However the parts that were cooked properly did taste good and the coconut cream was tasty.Cinnamon roll: this was the one dessert that was really tasty, had a great flavor, and was nice and moist. The food here is extremely decadent. I was only able to eat half of the French toast and a few bites of the croissant and cinnamon roll. I had to toss the quiche because it had an awful flavor and I also had to toss the beignets because they tasted like old frying oil.Overall, I don't think I would order from here again unless I was able to pick it up. Even that gives me pause because of how long it took them to make my order. If you cannot fulfill orders in about an hour you should not be on delivery apps. If there is a special circumstance you should cancel the order. It's unacceptable to make someone wait over three hours for their food. Hopefully this place can speed up their operations and tweak some of the recipes, because more plant-based options are always welcome!
I ordered some coco bread for a family dinner and OMG best bread I have ever eaten in my life. I think about this bread all the time, its that good. So buttery, fluffy, delicious, and Vegan! Looking forward to trying their new Spring menu!
I have nothing but love for Sunflower Gardenz! I started ordering from them last summer and I’ve been hooked ever since. Their baked goods are amazing—OMG the donuts, and pies, and mind blowing out of this world cinnamon rolls, wow, do yourself a favor and try everything. Their brunch game is strong and the serving portions are huge and so so delicious. My goal is to try everything from their menu and so far everything has been amazing. They are local, vegan, Black owned, Queer owned and truly the nicest. And their safety COVID procedures have been safe and consistent! Run, don’t walk, and order yourself some of the tastiest food in DC.
We ordered brunch through doordash pick up. The order took a while but it was well worth the wait! Hands down one of the most delicious brunches I’ve had.
