I don't care how much they claim they are doing everything the same as Wayne. That is not true.. I know for a FACT they are cutting the cake in smaller slices. Tonight I was shocked when I saw the size of the slice of cake. It looks 1/2 the size of what i have been buying fir 17 yrs with Wayne. This is a recent change. Last time i bought cake it was the usual large slice. Always enough to share. So EVERYTIME I get a small slice of cake for the same price I been paying for years with Wayne I am giving 1 star for reduced portion size. Americans like our larger portions. Stuart's is iconic and it's a shame it was sold to someone that would insult long-time customers. We are smart enough to notice we got a smaller piece of cake. I have been buying cake from Stuart's since 2005! It's time we give reviews that force them to bring things back up to Wayne's standards! Our standards!
I a taste for some fresh lake trout I entered the establishment and they were friendly but nobody seemed to speak English well except for one young lady and she act as if she didn't want to wait on me. After standing there for a couple of minutes being ignored I decided to go somewhere where I felt more comfortable
2nd visit. The spoon bread addicting. Got trout dinner 1st visit. Really well seasoned & tasty.2nd visit got whiting. trout best. Also Mac&cheese both visits. Tasty.Service good. Will revisit.
Fish was NOT fresh and they refused to refund! Owner was rude and not accommodating! I said, “I just called about my fish that I got 15 minutes ago.” He shouted , “WHEN, when, WHEN?” He spoke very limited English- pointed to No refund sign (that was NOT obvious ) and walked away. Order was remade from same batch- SAME OUTCOME! - Very dissatisfied ?
You can purchase cooked food and they have fresh seafood to purchase, also. Fair amount of food for prices. Some meals can approach $20 for a dinner. They have Spoon Bread! Who even makes that any more! It took me back to my childhood kitchen. They cook your food when you order it.
This place used to be pretty good I got a two-piece whiting with the spoon bread and fried okra. The spoon bread is not the bread I got there a year ago it had no corn in it and it was basically wet warm cooked cornmeal with sugar sort of like a very thick serving of grits and the okra and fish were not fried hard enough the okra was barely cooked I think they're on the new management and I will not go back there again.
I ordered a fish sandwich that was delicious! The only issue i personally had was the bones that i had to pick out but otherwise it was really good and i also got a bologna sandwich for the next day that was very good too!
Supremely disappointed by the mashed potatoes (instant!?!) and veggies just bland - no seasoning and I suspect canned. Just not the Stuarts I remember.
Don’t get the steamed shrimp had to throw about 10 nice sized one away. They were nothing but mush, couldn’t even peel them. I think they sat in water way too long and became water logged. The seasoning flavor we meh.
Well organized, and quick paced. They had a wonderful selection of fish, seafood, etc. Everything we have tried has been DELICIOUS! The suggestion to get the strawberry cake was welcomed, however it wasn't my cup of tea. They have a selection of different cakes and cobblers for your sweet tooth on top of Great seafood. Customer service was good, it's a very quick interaction so they can get your food out in minutes.
